The new three-row SUV by Renault is also in the pipeline and was recently seen testing in India and the company is planning a big entry to the premium SUV category with this model. The name of the model is probably going to be Renault Boreal and it is being slotted as the bigger brother of the upcoming 5-seater Duster. It will sell its first Boreal worldwide on July 10, and will launch the model in India later this year, 2026.
The brand name was inspired by the Greek mythology, Neptune, god of the North Wind, named Boreas, which expresses the daring and dynamic SUV perception of the brand. This name had been teased by Renault in April 2025 previously and the newly emerged spy shots approval that the progress work is much in place.
Based on the spy pictures, the SUV demonstrates the characteristics of a muscle car and an upright position. It has fat front and rear bumpers, an all-body cladding and a large roof spoiler.
The decision of a Renault to put its door handles on the B-pillar at the back means the company has a slimmer profile. Dimensions of the model are projected to match the Dacia Bigster which is about 4,570mm in length, 1,810mm wide and the wheelbase measuring 2,700mm.
Remarkably, concealed thick roof rails and LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) suggest contemporary lighting systems. The inside was bare except a 10.1-inch landscape-footprint touchscreen.
Renault Boreal is also expected to use the same powertrains as the new Duster such as the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a powerful plug-in hybrid. A naturally aspirated petrol model can also be available with optional manual and automatic propulsion systems.
Though there are no plans to develop an allwheel drive variant because of its cost, there is a possibility that CNG variant may be considered in India.
The new Duster with three rows will most probably be released several months after the new Duster will be hit in 2026. It will fit above the Duster in the Renault range and challenge models such as Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. The SUV is to be produced in the Chennai plant of Renault both in domestic and export markets.
