Parking Systems in UP to become hi-tech with FASTag-accessed entry and EV charging points, and handheld POS devices.

Following the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Urban Development Department has prepared a master plan to develop parking facilities in major cities to increase public convenience and traffic management, it stated.

It said that other features on the agenda are automated ticket dispensers, CCTV cameras for monitoring and security, digital signage for displaying information, boom barriers for regulated access, and handheld POS devices for convenience in payment.

These upgradations will greatly improve transparency in parking operations. The incorporation of technologies such as FASTag and automated systems is likely to offer users quicker entry and exit, without the need to stand in queues," it further added.

With the new scheme, on-street parking will get more expensive, particularly during the peak hours, 9 am to noon and 5 pm to 8 p,m and weekends. Rates and timings would be decided in consultation with the Parking Management Committee, it stated.

Penalties for violators

The violators who will not follow the guidelines will be liable to face strict penalties, and the encroachments will be promptly removed. It is said that the new smart parking system aims to reduce urban traffic congestion and ease the parking process for residents and visitors.

Conclusion

The rollout of hi-tech parking facilities in Uttar Pradesh is a step in the direction of bringing cities up to speed with modernizing urban infrastructure and increasing public ease. With capabilities such as FASTag-enabled entry, EV charging points, portable POS machines, and computerized management devices, the scheme ensures smoother, faster, and clearer parking experiences. Through the discouragement of violations and real-time demand-based pricing management, the state seeks not only to alleviate congestion but also to fashion a more ordered and efficient urban traffic system. This bold step under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marks a modern, visionary approach to urban development in the state.
