Nissan X-Trail Now at Rs 29.5 Lakh: Big Boy Toyz Slashes Price by 40%

The Nissan X-Trail may have been on your wish list, but Rs 49.92 lakh scared you off. Well, maybe now is the time to give one a trial. Premium pre-owned car dealer Big Boy Toyz (BBT) is offering a limited stock of Nissan X-Trail, zero-kilometre, 2024-manufactured units at Rs 29.5 lakh — an earth-shattering discount of Rs 20.42 lakh.

Why the Big Discount?

The launch of India's completely built unit (CBU) version of the X-Trail happened in August 2024, importing only 150 units. Sales failed to take off, with only 37 units going out to Nissan dealerships in eight months, according to SIAM data. Sources confirm that BBT has now acquired almost 80 of these unsold units from a third-party wholesaler, with prices slashed by nearly 40%.

Nissan India, in response to the inquiry, stated, "Bulk queries and corporate deals are common practices in the industry; however, the particulars of such arrangements are usually kept confidential."

What Went Wrong with the X-Trail?

Though a 7-seater SUV, the X-Trail just could not entice Indian customers owing to its premium price, limited features on offer compared to rivals, and seemingly underwhelming engine on paper. Models such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian not only priced themselves lower against the X-Trail but offered better features too, such as powered tailgates, ventilated seats, and ADAS.

The three-cylinder, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generates 163hp and 300Nm, which on paper gets one thinking along the lines of "what are the numbers"! But all reviewers agree on the near-inemption of the engine and the intelligent variable compression ratio tech that does this magic!
