Next-gen Astor SUV images leaked online

The next-generation Astor SUV, called the MG ZS in some regions, will be unveiled by MG Motor and will have a whole redesign in terms of features and appearance. A sneak peek at this well-liked midsize SUV's future thanks to leaked patent photos shows off a bold new design that will draw attention on the road.

Redesigned External Architecture

The redesigned Astor's front fascia is where the biggest upgrades are visible. The SUV has a powerful and muscular stance thanks to its wide grille, which is flanked by C-shaped fog lamp pods and revised single-pod headlamps. The SUV seems a little sportier thanks to the front end's general design, which was influenced by the MG3 hatchback.

Turning now to the sides, the new Astor has a redesigned shoulder line that rises at the back, giving it a more dynamic silhouette. To further improve its aesthetic appeal, the SUV will also have new design alloy wheels, lane-watch cameras installed on the ORVMs, and pull-type door handles. Large wraparound taillights and a revised bumper complete the Astor's rear-end facelift. To provide the tailgate with a neater, more organized appearance, the number plate has been shifted to the center.

Engine Choices

The present Astor model has two engine options, although the future generation vehicle's precise specifications are yet unknown. With a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission, the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine generates 108 BHP and 144 Nm.

It will be combined with either a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission. In contrast, the 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine produces 220 Nm and 138 BHP when paired with a 6-speed automated transmission.

Launch Schedule and Cost

The next-generation Astor's official launch date in India is still unknown, but industry insiders estimate it will be on the scene in 2026 after making its worldwide premiere in late 2025. Similar changes to the MG ZS EV, Astor's fully electric variant, are anticipated for the upgraded SUV.

The current MG Astor competes with vehicles such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun and is priced between Rs 9.98 lakh and Rs 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The next generation Astor is ready to set the standard in the fiercely competitive midsize SUV market thanks to its improved features and new look.

MG Motor's Future Goals

MG Motor has an ambitious ambition to introduce eight new products in India between 2025 and 2028, and the new Astor is one of them. These include the much-awaited Cyberster electric sports car, a new MPV, a new sedan, and improvements to the Hector and Gloster SUVs.
