MG Windsor EV: What to Expect

The MG Windsor EV is poised to make its official debut in India on 11 September 2024, marking it as MG Motor JSW India's third electric vehicle in the Indian market. As the launch date approaches, here’s a detailed look at what the Windsor EV has to offer.

Exterior Design:

The MG Windsor EV is a rebadged version of the globally available Wuling Cloud EV. It embraces a compact MPV design, characterized by a vertically stacked headlamp cluster with projector headlamps and wide LED light bars that span both the front and rear. The vehicle also features a charging port on the left front fender, flush-fitting door handles, and rides on robust alloy wheels, which add to its modern and sleek appearance. The integrated rear spoiler further enhances its aerodynamic look.

Interior Features:

Inside, the MG Windsor EV is being touted as a spacious and comfortable vehicle, thanks to its CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) classification. The cabin will include a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, premium black upholstery, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof that promises a more open and airy feel. A standout feature will be the rear aero-lounge seats, which offer a 135-degree recline function, ensuring passenger comfort on long journeys. The Windsor will also boast a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, setting a new benchmark for in-car technology.

Powertrain and Range:

Internationally, the MG Windsor EV is powered by a single electric motor, paired with two battery pack options. The first is a 50.6kWh unit that offers a claimed range of 460 km, while the second is a 37.9kWh unit, delivering a range of 360 km on a single charge. However, MG has yet to confirm which of these powertrain options will be available in the Indian market.

Launch Timeline and Competition:

The MG Windsor EV is scheduled for its Indian launch on 11 September 2024. Once it hits the market, it will compete with other fully electric vehicles like the BYD e6, offering a similar body style and driving experience. This launch marks an important step in MG's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup in India.
