Mercedes Maybach S Class Recalled In India

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Recalled in India

Mercedes-Benz India has announced a recall for the Maybach S-Class (W223-generation). The recall was announced due to the potential issue with the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software. The recall affects a total of 386 units across the country.

Affected Models

The recall applies to Maybach S-Class units manufactured between April 29, 2021, and January 27, 2024.

Reason for the Recall

The issue arises from the ECU software, which may not meet the required specifications. This software glitch could lead to several problems, including:

  • Increased exhaust temperatures.

  • Possible damage to surrounding components, such as the engine wiring harness and catalytic converter.

  • A risk of loss of propulsion without prior warning.

  • An increased potential risk of fire due to overheating components.

While these issues may not affect every vehicle, Mercedes-Benz is taking proactive measures to address the potential risks.

Customer Communication and Fix

Mercedes-Benz India has yet to release an official statement regarding the recall. However, it is expected that:

  • The fix will be provided free of charge to affected customers.

  • Authorised dealers will contact customers whose vehicles are impacted to arrange service appointments.

Customers are advised to cooperate with their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership to ensure the software update is applied promptly.

Importance of the Recall

Vehicle recalls, particularly for high-end models like the Maybach S-Class, underscore the importance of maintaining stringent quality standards. While the issue may be software-related, the potential consequences highlight the need for immediate resolution to ensure the safety and reliability of these luxury vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz’s proactive approach to recalling the Maybach S-Class demonstrates its commitment to customer safety and vehicle performance. If you own a W223-gen Maybach S-Class, ensure you follow up with your dealership for the required updates. Staying informed and acting swiftly can help prevent potential issues and maintain the vehicle’s impeccable standards.
