Kia India Records Highest-Ever May Sales in 2026, Up 24% Year-on-Year
  • Kia India achieved its best-ever May sales with 27,586 units dispatched in May 2026, reflecting 23.62% year-on-year growth.
  • The growth is backed by strong demand for the Seltos and Sonet, alongside positive reception for the Carens Clavis, Clavis EV, and MY26 Syros.

Kia India has wrapped up May 2026 with a record-breaking performance, registering wholesale dispatches of 27,586 units. This represents a 23.62% year-on-year increase over the 22,315 units sold in May 2025, making it the highest monthly May sales the brand has ever recorded in India.

On a month-on-month basis, the numbers also edged ahead by 1.10%, improving from the 27,286 units retailed in April 2026, adding 300 units to the numbers.

The Models Doing the Heavy Lifting

The updated Seltos continues to be the cornerstone of Kia's India story. The SUV has been consistently crossing the 10,000-unit monthly threshold ever since its latest update was rolled out earlier this year, a figure that speaks volumes about how well it resonates with Indian buyers.

The Sonet, meanwhile, holds its ground firmly in the competitive compact SUV space, with wider availability of automatic transmission options across both petrol and diesel variants helping it pull in a broader customer base.

Newer additions to the lineup are beginning to find their footing as well. The MY26 Syros has drawn an encouraging response following a revised variant structure and improved access to automatic gearbox choices.

The Carens Clavis and its electric counterpart, the Clavis EV, are also gaining traction, with Kia positioning them as practical, family-friendly options that blend versatile seating with contemporary technology.

Syros EV Launch on the Horizon

Adding further anticipation to Kia's near-term plans, the Syros EV is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

When it does, it will step straight into a hotly contested segment, going up against established electric rivals such as the Nexon EV and the XUV 3XO EV. It is a segment that is growing quickly, and Kia will be hoping the Syros nameplate's early momentum carries over to its electric variant.

Battery-as-a-Service Giving EV Adoption a Nudge

One of the more interesting developments underpinning Kia's growth is its Battery-as-a-Service initiative tied to the Clavis EV.

The programme is designed to reduce the upfront purchase cost of electric vehicles, making ownership a more financially accessible proposition for a wider section of buyers. It is an approach that could prove pivotal as India's EV adoption curve steepens.

A Network Built for Scale

Kia currently operates through 891 touchpoints spanning 402 cities across India. In addition, 130 certified pre-owned outlets complement the network, ensuring the brand's reach extends well beyond the major metro cities and into emerging markets.
