Hyundais Samarth By Hyundai Celebrates One Year Of Empowering People With Disabilities

Hyundai's 'Samarth by Hyundai' Celebrates One Year of Empowering People with Disabilities

Hyundai Motor India Limited’s one impactful initiative, Samarth has completed its one-year. Recently, Hyundai Celebrated the first anniversary of Samarth. An initiative launched in 2023 aims to support and empower disabled people across the country. With these initiatives, Hyundai constantly proves that this brand is more than just a brand of cars. A part of a global vision of "Progress for Humanity," the initiative aims to raise awareness and build a more inclusive society.

Empowering the Disabled Community: A Year of Progress

During the past year, Samarth by Hyundai has worked towards making a tangible difference in the lives of people with disabilities. The initiative started by fostering awareness about the challenges faced by the disabled community. Hyundai collaborated with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and stakeholders to ensure its message of inclusivity reached every corner of India.

Hyundai also made structural changes at its dealerships, ensuring that they are accessible to people with disabilities. This move included wheelchair access at most locations, making it easier for disabled individuals to visit their showrooms.

In addition, Hyundai launched disabled-friendly vehicle accessories, such as TurnPlus, a swivel seat mechanism that helps people with mobility issues get in and out of the car easily. This feature is available across their dealerships and can be installed in most passenger vehicles.

Celebrating the Achievements of Indian Paralympians

One of the key highlights of the Samarth by Hyundai event was the recognition of Indian Paralympians. Seven athletes who were part of Hyundai's initiative were felicitated for their exceptional performances. These athletes have overcome immense obstacles, and their success is a testament to the strength and determination of individuals with disabilities.

Hyundai’s support for these athletes extends beyond mere recognition. The company, through its partnerships with NGOs like GoSports Foundation and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, continues to provide financial aid, mentorship, and assistive devices to para-athletes. This ensures that athletes have the resources they need to succeed on the global stage.

The Samarth Hero Awards

In another significant announcement, Hyundai introduced the Samarth Hero Awards, which will honor individuals and organizations making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. These awards aim to highlight the contributions of those who have gone above and beyond to create opportunities and support for disabled individuals.

This initiative by Hyundai is an important step toward recognizing and encouraging efforts to build a more inclusive society. By celebrating the heroes of inclusivity, Hyundai hopes to inspire others to join the movement for accessibility and equality.

Partnerships for a More Inclusive Future

Hyundai's philanthropic arm, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), has played a crucial role in executing the Samarth by Hyundai initiative. Through strategic partnerships with NGOs like Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, the company has organized events such as the Blind Men’s Cricket Series, bringing attention to the talents and abilities of visually impaired cricketers.

In this thrilling series, the Indian Blind Cricket Team emerged victorious against Sri Lanka, and Hyundai has pledged to continue its support by training 50 blind cricketers every year. This commitment ensures that the athletes receive the resources and guidance they need to succeed at both the national and international levels.

In collaboration with the GoSports Foundation, Hyundai also launched the Samarth Para-Sports Programme. This initiative is focused on supporting para-athletes with financial assistance, sports science support, and mentorship. Over the past year, 20 para-athletes have benefitted from the program, with several representing India at the Paralympics and two athletes even winning medals.

Focus on Assistive Technology

Hyundai has also been at the forefront of promoting assistive technology. The Samarth Assistive Devices Conclave, held earlier this year, highlighted the role of assistive devices in improving the lives of people with disabilities. During the event, Hyundai distributed over 200 devices and is committed to delivering 684 assistive devices over the next three years.

By raising awareness about the importance of assistive technology, Hyundai aims to make everyday life easier for people with disabilities. The company is also working to promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in para-sports, helping athletes leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance their performance.

Looking Ahead: Hyundai’s Commitment to Inclusivity

As Samarth by Hyundai enters its second year, the company remains committed to creating a more inclusive society. Hyundai plans to continue its efforts in supporting para-athletes and blind cricket, distributing assistive devices, and raising awareness about inclusivity through partnerships with NGOs and media organizations.

The next phase of the initiative will focus on two key pillars: technology and infrastructure. By collaborating with the government, NGOs, and other stakeholders, Hyundai aims to develop policies and solutions that make India more accessible for people with disabilities.

To summarize, Hyundai's Samarth by Hyundai initiative has made significant progress in its first year, promoting inclusivity and supporting people with disabilities. Through its partnerships, disabled-friendly vehicle accessories, and support for para-athletes, the company has set a new standard for corporate responsibility. As Hyundai looks to the future, its commitment to building a more inclusive society remains unwavering. By driving change and creating opportunities, Hyundai is truly making a difference for people with disabilities in India.
