Hyundai to Launch Genesis in India by 2027, Aiming to Redefine Luxury Mobility
Hyundai Motor India officially announced at its Investor Day 2025 event that its luxury brand, Genesis, will debut in India in 2027. In India, this is a significant step for Hyundai's entry into the luxury market.
Genesis automobiles will be locally produced in India, in contrast to entirely imported cars (CBU units). With this strategy, Hyundai will be able to control expenses, reduce import taxes, and provide competitive pricing in the luxury automobile market.
While preserving the brand's distinctive emphasis on elegance, workmanship, and technology, local assembly is anticipated to increase accessibility for Genesis vehicles.
Curiously, the GV80's design has already been registered as a trademark in India, indicating that it may be among the first Genesis automobiles to be sold in that country.
Hyundai intends to launch the Genesis in India as part of a larger investment and product strategy. By 2030, the business plans to invest over ₹45,000 crore (about US$5 billion) in India for research and development, capacity growth, and the introduction of new products. Hyundai India intends to introduce 26 models during that period, including seven completely new nameplates.
The company aims to break into new car markets, such as MPVs and off-road SUVs, and by 2027, introduce India's first domestically produced electric SUV. By FY2030, the objective is to make India Hyundai's second-largest worldwide market.
