The Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen's new premium SUV, has been formally introduced for the Indian market.
The seven-seat SUV aims to compete with market leaders by fusing luxury design, comfort, and cutting-edge technology.
With a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces about 201 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, the Tayron R-Line comes standard with all-wheel drive (4Motion) and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
With its sporty R-Line-specific design, which includes unique bumpers, illuminated logos, and 19-inch alloy wheels, the SUV looks both bold and upscale. This combination offers assured performance on both city streets and highways.
With a massive 15-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and high-quality materials, the interior of the cabin features a driver-focused arrangement. Comfort is a top priority.
The panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, 30-colour ambient lighting, and ventilation, memory, and massage features on the front seats all contribute to the feeling of luxury. The SUV also has many connectivity options and an upscale Harman Kardon sound system.
The Tayron R-Line is outfitted by Volkswagen with an extensive array of safety and driver-assistance features. Park Assist Plus, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS technology, and nine airbags (including a center airbag) to shield occupants in side impacts, are all included.
The goal of these systems is to make driving safer and less stressful, especially when traveling long distances or in congested areas.
At Volkswagen's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra, production of the Tayron R-Line has already started. This local assembly status is anticipated to assist in maintaining competitive pricing.
Estimates indicate that the ex-showroom pricing will be between ₹48 lakh and ₹50 lakh once it is formally revealed. The launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
The Tayron R-Line is positioned to take on well-known competitors in India's full-size SUV market, including the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian, thanks to its blend of performance, technology, and room. Its luxurious interior, dynamic design cues, and extensive feature set are intended to draw in customers seeking a flexible family SUV without sacrificing capability or style.
