Ferrari's First-Ever Electric Car Set for 2025 Debut, CEO Confirms

Ferrari is preparing to join the electric vehicle revolution with its first-ever all-electric car, set to debut in 2025. This significant announcement was confirmed by Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, who also revealed that the electric vehicle (EV) will go on sale in 2026. Vigna shared these details during an interaction with the British automotive publication, Autocar UK, noting that prototypes of the upcoming EV have already completed several thousand kilometers of testing.

“When we do electric cars, we will produce them in the right way,” Vigna emphasized. He further mentioned that people buy Ferraris not for a single feature but for the overall fun and exhilarating experience, a promise that the upcoming EV aims to uphold.

While Ferrari has kept specific details about the EV under wraps, spy shots of the prototypes have suggested that the EV will feature fake exhaust tips, maintaining the brand’s iconic design elements. One of the key features of the car will be its sound. Despite being an EV, it will imitate the exhaust note of internal combustion engine (ICE) models, thanks to Ferrari’s patented exhaust note. Vigna mentioned that the new electric cars will come with unique sound signatures, though he refrained from sharing further details. The range, battery packs, and other specifications of the EV remain closely guarded secrets.

Ferrari’s Continued Commitment to ICE

Even as Ferrari makes strides into the electric vehicle market, the company remains committed to producing internal combustion engine-propelled vehicles. Vigna hinted that Ferrari’s future lineup would include a mix of combustion, hybrid, and electric powertrain options, driven by consumer demand. He underscored that predicting sales based on powertrains would be presumptive and disrespectful to customers and that Ferrari will never discuss sales splits.

Ferrari’s entry into the EV market marks a pivotal moment for the brand, balancing innovation with its heritage of delivering high-performance, thrilling driving experiences. As the automotive industry evolves, Ferrari is poised to offer a diverse range of powertrains, ensuring that every customer finds the perfect match for their driving passion.
