With the introduction of new models, Ferrari is shifting its strategy. Rather than trying to boost sales volumes (which usually hover around 14,000 per year), the company aims to diversify its product lineup by offering more model lines, albeit with lower sales for each line.
New Ferrari cars in 2025
Although the Roma was discontinued last year, the model is set to be revamped and relaunched in 2025. The test mules of the new model share a similar silhouette, implying that the design is more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Following the Portofino convertible, the Roma is slated to receive the Modificata (M) treatment, which includes updated styling, a more aggressive chassis setup, and increased power. Ferrari may look to make up the shortfall to the more powerful Aston Martin Vantage and the Porsche 911 Turbo by taking it to around 650hp. The Roma M is expected to be revealed in the coming months, and a Spider version will follow.
The Ferrari SF90 M will make well over 1,000 hp
The flagship SF90 supercar from Ferrari is also set to receive the M treatment. Given that the outgoing SF90's 1,000 hp had slightly lagged behind the Lamborghini Revuelto's 1,015 hp from its naturally aspirated V12 plug-in hybrid powertrain, the SF90 M will probably utilize the track-focused 1,030 hp SF90 XX's configuration.
It is anticipated that weight-saving measures will be implemented, as the SF90's dry weight of 1,570 kg is reported to hinder its on-limit handling when compared to the lighter 296 GTB.
Ferrari 296 Performance version to get more power and less weight
It is anticipated that the more aggressive version of the Ferrari 296 GTB will mirror the acclaimed 488 Pista and 458 Speciale by adopting the same formula; increased power and significant weight reduction.
To provide some context, the 458 Speciale had an increase of 35 hp and a weight reduction of 90 kg compared to the Italia from which it was derived. This enhanced its power-to-weight ratio by almost 50 hp per tonne.
When treated similarly, the new 296, which packs a harder punch, would boast approximately 630hp per tonne. This would represent a marked enhancement compared to the current vehicle’s 557 hp per tonne.
Conclusion
The 2025 lineup from Ferrari represents an exciting evolution for the brand, striking a balance between innovation and tradition. As performance-oriented variants of the 296, Roma, and SF90 are forthcoming and Ferrari’s inaugural EV is set to launch in October, the company is broadening its portfolio while keeping exclusivity and high-performance engineering at the forefront. Ferrari is guaranteeing its position at the cutting edge of the supercar industry by enhancing current models and rolling out state-of-the-art innovations. As the prancing horse keeps advancing the boundaries of automotive excellence, enthusiasts can look forward to a thrilling year ahead.
