The Maruti Brezza S-CNG, with its 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol+CNG combination and 5-speed manual transmission, is said to deliver 25.51km/kg, while the Nexon iCNG, with its turbo-petrol+CNG combination and 6-speed manual transmission, is said to deliver 24km/kg. The Nexon achieved 13.4 km/kg in our city fuel efficiency test, whilst the Brezza achieved an outstanding 20.4 km/kg.
Notably, Nexon's turbo-petrol mill loses efficiency in stop-go situations with continuous on- and off-boost situations. Additionally, there is no Eco drive mode or auto engine stop-start technology to monitor gas consumption.
Tata Nexon iCNG vs Maruti Brezza S-CNG real-world efficiency
Both vehicles' highway efficiency was more in line with their stated values. Whereas the Brezza delivered 25.5km/kg, the Nexon delivered 23.7km/kg. The engine of the Brezza spins at about 2900 rpm in fifth gear, while the Nexon's sixth gear makes it a breeze to drive on the open road, whirling at about 2300 rpm at 100 kph.
Nonetheless, the 1.5-liter engine in the Brezza is naturally more efficient, and its lower curb weight of 1255 kg (compared to the Nexon's 1398 kg) contributes to higher fuel efficiency.
Conclusion
