How Does the E-Challan System Work in Haryana and Sikkim?

"Understanding E-Challan Systems: A Guide to How the Electronic Challan System Works in Haryana and Sikkim An Informative Overview of the Digital Process for Issuing and Managing Traffic Violations. Essential for Drivers to Comprehend the Technological Advancements in Traffic Law Enforcement, Ensuring Efficient Compliance and Streamlined Handling of Penalties. A Useful Resource for Motorists in Haryana and Sikkim, Equipped with Knowledge to Navigate the E-Challan System Effectively and Responsibly."

A traffic challan is an item that people try to avoid the most, but they receive frequently. It is a crucial element of your daily life on the road. A challan is a type of acknowledgement receipt.

According to the MV Act 1988, a traffic challan is issued or given to a driver who violates one of the road rules. So following all road safety laws and regulations is essential.

What is 'E-Challan'?

E-Challan is a digital challan that eliminates the need for paper. It is one of the government's initiatives to secure the surroundings and improve public health. It aims to eliminate human error in challan issuance and illegitimacy.

Since everything is now digital and data is processed in real-time, it is no longer necessary for the traffic police to find an accused individual physically. You can pay online if you violate traffic laws and receive an e-challan on your phone.

Implementation of E-challan Penalties in Haryana

All cities in Haryana are monitored by a network of CCTV cameras that generate E-Challan for traffic violations. If you violate the regulations of the road, a CCTV camera will capture your picture, and an electronic challan will be sent to your house. You can pay your Haryana traffic police e-challan online through the Parivahan website.

The government of Haryana has implemented strict guidelines on insurance penalty fees, driving license fines, failure of a valid RC and the issuance of a challan for a pradhushan certificate. Here are some common penalties:

  • Challan for a helmet: Rs. 1,000

  • Challan for vehicles driving without a licence: Rs. 5,000

  • Not having an RC Challan: Rs. 5000

  • Riding a bike without insurance: Rs. 2,000

  • Running a bike that does not have a pollution certificate: Rs. 10,000

Implementation of E-challan Penalties in Sikkim

Sikkim Traffic Police employs specifically trained police officers around the state to enforce traffic laws. The state government also made the traffic tracking system digital, making it easy to monitor traffic and send e-challans to people who violate the rules.

Overspeeding, crossing a red light, not wearing a helmet, engaging on a cell phone while driving, and other traffic violations are all covered under the Sikkim e-challan system. The following are the penalties for these violations:

  • Overspeeding: In Sikkim, the fine for exceeding the speed limit is Rs. 1,000 for the first violation and Rs. 2,000 for repeat offenders.

  • Jumping Red Lights: If caught running a red light, you'll have to pay a fine of Rs. 1000 for the initial offence and Rs. 2000 second offence.

  • Driving Without Wearing a Helmet: If you drive without a helmet for the first time, you must pay a fine of Rs. 500. You will have to pay Rs. 1,000 for repeated offences.

  • Mobile phone usage while driving: Mobile phone use is Rs. 1000 first violation and Rs. 2000 for successive crimes.

  • Driving without a seat belt: The first infraction for driving without buckling up is a punishment of Rs. 500, and each subsequent offence results in a fine of Rs. 1000.
