A report confirms that the upcoming Q7 is expected to be the final model in the lineup. After that, the company will focus only on the EV market and begin manufacturing more EVs in 2026. The third-generation Audi Q7 SUV is currently under development and is scheduled to debut globally in 2026. The Q7 will be among the last Audi cars with a combustion engine because now it only plans to introduce electric vehicles after 2026.
Design and Style
In terms of styling, the new Q7 will take cues from Audi's upcoming Q3 and Q5, including a clamshell bonnet, a streamlined split-cluster LED light design, and an enlarged octagonal grille. It will maintain the strong emphasis on interior space and boot capacity with a boxy-looking rear and a straight roofline, though it's unclear if it will be noticeably larger than the current Q7.
Interior Reveals
The futuristic Q6 e-tron will serve as an inspiration for the most recent Q7 inside. It will have a more sophisticated and enhanced touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with all wireless car connect technologies. With a panoramic curved interface for the driver display, it will be better in the segment and set itself apart from competitors.
Boot space is probably better in the upcoming Q7 than it is in the current Q7. But as of yet, the company does not have any relevant details. The platform used to develop the current Q7 will be used to continue developing the next generation Q7. Some updates are anticipated, though.
Details of the new Audi Q7 platform
The MLB architecture that powers the current Q7 will be upgraded to support the new Q7. To better compete with rivals, revisions will be made to accommodate new powertrains, such as longer-range plug-in hybrids.
The most recent iteration of the smaller MQB platform, which powers a variety of Volkswagen Group vehicles, can now hold a 19.7kWh battery, providing the plug-in hybrid versions of the new Volkswagen Passat sedan and the most recent Tiguan with a range of up to 100 kilometers. The MLB platform's additional floorspace will undoubtedly allow it to hold this battery or even a bigger pack, extending the Q7 PHEV's current EV range of 42 kilometers.

Upgraded Engine Options
Audi previously confirmed that the new Q7's powertrain will be a "completely new family of engines." Other than that, official information about the new Q7's powertrain offering is still unknown. There's little doubt that the Q7 will stay available with a selection of mildly hybrid petrol and diesel engines, with a refined SQ7 variant featuring an upgraded twin-turbocharged V8 engine from Audi topping the lineup.
