Volvo to launch the new all-electric ES90 on 5th March 2024

The New Volvo ES90 will feature AI-powered autonomous driving technology and is also said to be dimensionally larger than the ICE-Powered S90. The ES90 will boast the same 111 kWh battery as the EX90 electric SUV.

Technical Highlights of Volvo ES90

Under the hood, the ES90 and the EX90 electric SUV will be very similar because they will both be built on the same electric SPA2 platform. The electric vehicle will include two Nvidia processors, which together are said to be able to do 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS).

ES90 boasts advanced autonomous driving technology

Volvo's artificial intelligence systems will be able to process more data, thanks to this computer power, which should eventually enhance the ES90's autonomous driving and collision avoidance capabilities. Speaking of which, the ES90 will include five radars, eight cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and a LiDAR box.

The ES90 will utilize Volvo's Superset "tech stack," which essentially combines all of the hardware and software for the driving, infotainment, autonomous, and other features, just as the EX90. All next Volvo cars will feature this technology, which will provide over-the-air upgrades.

Exterior Highlights of the Volvo ES90

Volvo has hinted at stylistic characteristics taken from the EX90 in its teaser picture for the ES90, including the iconic "Thor's hammer" headlamps, closed-off grille, and vertically oriented taillamps. In contrast, the ES90's side profile is similar to that of the globally available plug-in hybrid S90.

According to earlier ES90 rumors, the electric sedan would have a wheelbase of 3,100mm and be somewhat longer than the S90 at 4,999mm to maximize internal space.

Battery and Powertrain of Volvo ES90

Both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive versions of the ES90 will be offered. Outputs will probably match those of the EX90, and power will come from a massive 111kWh battery that might provide up to 600km of range (WLTP) for the single-motor variant.

As a result, the all-wheel-drive ES90 could produce 517 horsepower and 910 Nm in performance form in addition to 408 horsepower and 770 Nm as normal.

Conclusion

With its amazing 111 kWh battery, sophisticated but futuristic design, and state-of-the-art AI-powered autonomous technology, the Volvo ES90 is poised to revolutionize the premium EV market. With its strong dual-motor option, over-the-air updates, and sophisticated safety measures, the ES90 is set to revolutionize electric mobility. The ES90, Volvo's most technologically advanced car to date, promises to provide a luxurious driving experience with sustainability at its heart. On March 5, 2025, Volvo will unveil its next-generation electric sedan, and the eyes of the car enthusiast will be on the new offering.
