Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Unveiled for India Before 2026 Release
  • Volkswagen has formally unveiled its flagship high-end seven-seater SUV, the Tayron R-Line, which is headed to India, ahead of its scheduled Q1 2026 introduction.

  • In Volkswagen's Indian lineup, the Tayron R-Line, which offers roomy interiors, cutting-edge technology, and a dynamic R-Line design, will sit above the Tiguan R-Line.

Volkswagen has unveiled the Tayron R-Line, a high-end seven-seater SUV that will serve as the company's flagship vehicle in India. This new SUV, which is positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, marks VW's return to the wider three-row SUV market following the Tiguan Allspace's 2021 discontinuation.

The Tayron R-Line, which is built on the same contemporary MQB EVO platform as other VW Group cars, has a larger wheelbase than the standard Tiguan, which enables it to provide both executive and family buyers with ample cabin space and true third-row seating.

Dynamic Style and High-End Features

With its aggressive bumper design, unique R-Line badging, and 19-inch alloy wheels that increase its road presence, the Tayron R-Line has a powerful and sporty appearance. The SUV has a confident stance on the road thanks to its muscular front fascia and LED lighting characteristics.

Volkswagen has placed a strong emphasis on comfort and technology within the cabin. Its standout features include a fully digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, and a 15-inch floating touchscreen entertainment system that is tilted toward the driver.

In order to improve comfort for lengthy rides and hot weather, the SUV also has high-end ergo Active Plus front seats with leather upholstery, active ventilation, and massaging features. Its versatile boot area, which can hold up to 850 liters when the third row is folded, and ambient lighting in a variety of colours add to its allure.

Launch Plans, Safety, and Performance

A 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Volkswagen's all-wheel drive system are anticipated to power the Tayron R-Line. This powerplant will probably produce 204 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, striking a balance between performance and practicality.

Additionally, safety has not been neglected. The SUV's strong crash-protection credentials are demonstrated by its five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

In the first quarter of 2026, Volkswagen is anticipated to introduce the Tayron R-Line in India, with a competitive pricing range of Rs. 45 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom). When it is introduced, it will compete with other high-end SUVs on the market by providing an alluring blend of performance, comfort, and spaciousness.
