Volkswagen recalls 961 units of Taigun and Virtus due to seatbelt issue
Volkswagen has recalled its 961 units because of a persistent issue with the rear seatbelt metal frame assembly on both the left and right sides, which may develop into cracks over time. Moreover, some cars may have been built with incorrect parts in the front seatbelts, which could lead to safety issues for car owners.
This revelation follows Volkswagen’s ongoing quality checks, and all the affected units have been recalled in the best interest of the customers and to reinforce trust in the brand. Therefore, it also forms a part of the trust-building process.
Skoda India, which shares platforms and components with Volkswagen, has also recalled 860 selected units of the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq for the same concern.
Volkswagen is expected to start communicating with affected owners soon. Customers can also check whether their vehicle is part of the recall using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Customers can go to the official website and enter the VIN on the official website to check the car’s eligibility
VIN can be found stamped on the car body, on a plate under the windscreen in the lower left, and mentioned in the vehicle’s registration certificate.
The Volkswagen Virtus competes with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Slavia, while the Taigun goes up against popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and Skoda Kushaq.
Owners are advised to get their vehicles examined to avoid any serious consequences. These inspections by Volkswagen are precautionary, and replacements for the affected units will most likely be fixed without any additional cost.
