Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Electric SUV to Debut in October
The new Volkswagen ID. Tiguan electric SUV will make its global debut in early October 2026 before entering international markets in early 2027.
The electric SUV will succeed the ID.4 and ID.5, while the existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Tiguan will continue to be sold.
Volkswagen will unveil the ID. Tiguan electric SUV globally in early October. The production-ready model is scheduled to enter global markets in early 2027 and will become part of Volkswagen’s electric SUV line-up.
The ID. Tiguan will succeed the ID.4 and ID.5 in Volkswagen’s electric SUV range, while the conventional Tiguan will continue to be offered with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Volkswagen says the ID. Tiguan will feature a completely new design. The company has also indicated that the electric SUV will be positioned in a higher segment than the current ID.4 and ID.5.
The model is currently being tested with camouflage, so the complete production-specification design has not yet been revealed. Volkswagen's latest official images show a near-production version of the SUV ahead of its market launch.
The ID. Tiguan is the latest Volkswagen model to use an established name for an electric vehicle, following the ID. Polo and ID. Cross.

Conventional Tiguan: The standard Tiguan will continue to be available alongside the ID. Tiguan.
Powertrain Options: The conventional model will retain petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Different Powertrain Choices: The ID. Tiguan will use an all-electric powertrain, while the conventional Tiguan will continue with its existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid options.
Volkswagen is using the Tiguan name for its new electric SUV, following the same approach seen with other upcoming electric models such as the ID. Polo and ID. Cross.
More than 8.3 million Tiguan vehicles have been produced globally since the model was introduced. The new ID. Tiguan will bring the Tiguan name to Volkswagen's electric SUV range.
Volkswagen is expected to disclose more information about the ID. Tiguan at its early-October world premiere, including details of the production model and its powertrain.
