Tesla Model Y 6-Seater L launched in China; having 751km range

Model Y L, unlike the standard 5-seater, has a wheelbase that is 3040mm longer and the overall length that is 179mm longer, and is therefore 4,976mm long. It is also 44mm taller in height compared to the Model Y (5-seater), which provides a more commanding appearance to the SUV.

Although its general shape is similar, it receives minor refinements, such as redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels and a longer roofline with grander-size quarter glass, and a blacked-out rear spoiler. It is also distinguished by a new Starlight Gold paint colour choice.

High-end 6-seat Cabin Design

The Model Y L has a 2+2+2 seating arrangement on its interior, which will satisfy both families and high-end customers. The second row has been updated with captain chairs that include heating, ventilation and power-folding armrests to increase comfort. Additional flexibility is the availability of the third-row heated seats.

Additional features comprise a somewhat bigger 16-inch central touchscreen, an 18-speaker sound system (compared to Model Y) and air vents in the pillars to serve second- and third-row passengers that elevate comfort and ease.

Battery, Range, and Performance

Tesla has fitted the Model Y L with the sole long-range AWD configuration that is powered by an 82kWh battery pack. It employs the dual-motor layout, where it has 193hp up front and 269hp down back.

Although the Model Y L has a 96kg heavier configuration than the standard Model Y, the car still retains good performance; the 0-100kph is achieved in 4.5 seconds.

Even more outstanding, it has a 751km range with CLTC certification which is 1 kilometre more than the regular version. Tesla owes this to the new wheel design, which is aerodynamic and efficient.

Market Positioning

Selling at 3,39,000 yuan, the Model Y L is only being sold in China, which is the most important EV market to Tesla. Since established local brands took away the market share of Tesla, the long-wheelbase, 6-seater Model Y L may contribute to expanding the range and claiming position and customers who feel the need for space and comfort and long-range capabilities.
