Tata Sierra Poised for AWD Launch, With Strong Engines and Competitive Pricing

The 2025 Sierra, which is built on Tata's cutting-edge ARGOS architecture, has officially debuted. Although this platform currently only supports front-wheel drive, Tata has stated that all-wheel drive (AWD) is theoretically feasible, which could result in future ICE vehicles having 4x4 capabilities.
Three internal combustion engine options are available to buyers of the new Sierra: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-liter Kryotec diesel.
Although the business has not yet disclosed official ARAI mileage data, preliminary estimations and conjectures indicate that the diesel could provide 18–20 km/l in real-world driving, while the petrol versions might achieve about 15–17 km/l. The discussion about "Tata Sierra mileage" as a primary selling element is fueled by these assumptions.
As early as 2026, the EV version of the Sierra with AWD capabilities may be the first to go on sale, according to Tata's product roadmap. The ICE (gasoline/diesel) AWD Sierra is anticipated to launch later, most likely in 2027. This will be the brand's first time using ICE AWD in a passenger car.
Ex-showroom pricing for the base ICE grade of the new Tata Sierra is ₹11.49 lakh. The "top model" Sierra (particularly with possible AWD or EV) is anticipated to cost between ₹20 lakh and ₹24 lakh ex-showroom, according to estimations linked to the platform and spec levels, while specific pricing for all variants has not yet been released.
With the new Sierra, Tata blends its iconic nameplate with cutting-edge drivetrains, adaptable construction, and anticipated effective mileage, all encased in a tough yet modern style. Its attractiveness is increased by the possible AWD versions, particularly for consumers seeking a high-end, adventure-ready SUV.
Additionally, the beginning price makes it quite competitive in the mid-size SUV market, offering buyers a compelling value proposition if they decide to wait for the AWD or higher-spec models.
