Tata Curvv and Tata Curvv EV have been considered to be one of the most anticipated ICE and EV duo of the year. After much of spy shots and a series of teasers, Tata has finally unveiled both cars. Currently, the exterior has been flaunted of the two SUV-coupe offerings. Initially, Tata will announce the prices for the electric version of the Curvv, with the ICE (internal combustion engine) variant set to be launched later. Here’s a closer look at what these new models bring to the table.
The Tata Curvv stands out with its unique coupe-style roofline, a first for Tata in the mass market. Both the ICE and EV versions share several design elements, including connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and an all-LED headlight setup on the bumper. The Curvv ICE features a blacked-out grille, while the Curvv EV sports a closed-off, body-colored panel, giving it a distinct look.
On the side, the ICE version boasts petal-shaped dual-tone alloy wheels, whereas the EV version comes with aerodynamically styled alloy wheels. Both models also feature flush-type door handles, a first for Tata, adding to their sleek appearance. At the rear, both versions have a connected LED tail light setup, enhancing their modern and stylish look.
While Tata has not fully revealed the interiors of the Curvv models, it is expected that they will have a design similar to that of the Tata Nexon. One notable feature is the 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, inspired by the Harrier and Safari models. This element adds a touch of sophistication to the interior design.
Both the Curvv ICE and Curvv EV are expected to come equipped with a range of advanced features. These include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features are comprehensive, with six airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, electronic stability control, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) expected to be included.
The Curvv ICE will introduce Tata’s much-anticipated 1.2-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol engine, delivering 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. Additionally, there will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine option, producing 115 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. The petrol engine is expected to be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), while the diesel engine will likely come with a 6-speed manual transmission.
For the Curvv EV, Tata plans to offer two battery pack options, providing a range of around 500 km on a single charge. Specific details about the battery pack and electric motor specifications have yet to be disclosed, but the expected range indicates a strong performance for long-distance travel.
Tata will first announce the prices for the Curvv EV, which is expected to start at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The ICE version of the Curvv is likely to be priced from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite Tata not officially opening the order books, some dealerships are already accepting offline bookings for both models.
The Curvv EV will compete with other electric vehicles in the market, such as the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. On the other hand, the ICE version of the Curvv will go head-to-head with popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, and MG Astor. Additionally, the Curvv can be seen as a direct rival to the Citroen Basalt.
