Tata Avinya X Concept vs Tata Avinya Concept: A Look at Design

The Tata Avinya X concept was recently unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025, where it features new body style-line features that separate it from the original Tata Avinya concept. While both models are standalone concepts, Avinya X is designed with an SUV-coupe design, a stance that is more upright and updated interior elements. In getting ready to penetrate into the segment with a significant impact, Tata has come up with an interesting confrontation of the two concepts in terms of major design elements, performance specifications, and expected features.

The Tata Avinya concept initially brought much acclaim when it was first put forth, and now it has transformed into the Avinya X as presented at Auto Expo 2025. While both are completely concept models, they show very distinctive design characteristics catering to equally differing tastes.

So, let's see how the Avinya X matches up against its forebear Avinya.

Front Design

The Avinya X concept is really more of an SUV coupe and thus, taller and more upright than just plain Avinya. Both have T-shaped LED DRL strips and a closed-off grille; however, the Avinya X sports:

  • Vertical headlight housings

  • A silver skid plate

  • A more upright nose that enhances its SUV-like appearance

In this design shift, the Avinya X looks bolder on the road.

Side Profile

The first thing that will be noticed is the difference in the rooflines. The Avinya X has a coupe-like SUV silhouette while having a steeply sloped roofline in terms of the thin hillside of the Avinya. The above-the-tail lamps leave room for the C-pillars, which carry a touch sensor to all the rear doors of the Avinya X.

The other features includes:

  • Flush door handle for the front doors in the Avinya X

  • All these features find a touch between stamina and futurity.

Back in Design

Both cars' rear do not offer bifurcated T-shaped LED tail light strips. The Avinya X brings the suite of lights close to production readiness because of the seamless integration of the design. Enhancing that rugged look includes:

  • Silvery skid plate that is very closely contoured into the bumper

  • A continuously more rugged appearance is bestowed on the Avinya X over the base earlier.

Interiors

Both have a black-and-beige dual-tone interior theme. However, the following key differences can be deduced:

  • The steering wheel in the normal Avinya has four spokes and has the central display, but the Avinya X comes with a 2-spoke arrangement on the steering wire.

  • A digital ORVM (Outside Rearview Mirror) screen can be seen here from the Avinya X and not the normal model.

  • And the Avinya X has a dashboard-integrated infotainment screen but also T-shaped lighting strip running across it.

Both versions are furnished with glass roofs, but in the regular Avinya, this glass roof is attached with the front windshield.

Expected Range and Powertrain Options

While Tata has yet to disclose specific battery pack specifications for the Avinya X, it is anticipated to offer a claimed range of at least 500 km. Both models will be built on Tata's new Modular Architecture (EMA) platform, which will also be shared with new EVs under Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). This platform supports various body styles and powertrains.

Powertrain Specifications:

1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine

  • Power: 120 PS

  • Torque: 172 Nm

  • Transmission: 6-speed MT / 7-speed DCT

1.5-litre diesel engine

  • Power: 116 PS

  • Torque: 250 Nm

  • Transmission: 6-speed MT / 6-speed AT

Conclusion

The Tata Avinya X represents an exciting evolution of Tata's electric vehicle offerings, showcasing a distinct design language compared to its predecessor. With its SUV-coupe styling, advanced interior features, and robust performance expectations, it aims to capture consumer interest as part of Tata's growing electric vehicle portfolio. As Tata prepares for production and eventual market launch, both concepts highlight the brand's commitment to innovation in electric mobility.
