Sunroof and Other Features Added to the Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) Variant
  • Kia adds a new mid-spec HTE (EX) model to the Carens Clavis lineup, which is loaded with features that are ideal for families.

  • The trim offers a sunroof, enhanced comfort features, and a variety of reasonably priced engine options.

In order to increase its appeal in the cutthroat family MPV market, Kia India has introduced the new HTE (EX) option for the Carens Clavis line. This trim, which is priced at ₹12.54 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base petrol option, falls well between the current HTE(O) and HTK levels and provides consumers with an alluring combination of features and value.

The HTE (EX) comes with all three internal combustion engine options—a 1.5-liter normally aspirated gasoline, a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel—and is available in a seven-seat configuration.

The turbo-petrol version costs approximately ₹13.42 lakh, while the diesel version costs approximately ₹14.53 lakh (all ex-showroom). Prices differ slightly depending on the engine.

What's New Outside and Inside

The most notable feature of this version is the electric sunroof, which is now available for the first time on the 1.5-liter petrol Carens Clavis and gives the cabin the openness that customers have long wanted.

Additionally, Kia has changed LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and position lighting for a more modern appearance, as well as fully automated temperature control (FATC) for increased user-friendliness.

Small details like an auto up/down driver-side window and LED cabin lighting inside provide for a substantially better experience than the ordinary HTE(O) model.

Holding Fast to What Works

The Carens Clavis has not changed mechanically or in terms of design. With a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a strong safety package with numerous airbags and stability aids, it still offers a useful, roomy seven-seater layout with a family-friendly feature set carried over from previous models.

Kia hopes to better appeal to consumers who desire more comfort and style without having to upgrade to more expensive grades with this new model. By bridging the gap between reasonably priced functionality and appealing equipment in the mid-size MPV market, the HTE (EX) increases the attractiveness of the Carens Clavis.
