Skoda Kushaq Facelift Caught Testing with Feature Updates

The Skoda Kushaq, a major contender in the compact SUV market, is gearing up for an update. Skoda introduced the Kushaq in 2021, and it has competed well against models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

But as many rivals have already rolled out their refreshed versions, Skoda is preparing to update the Kushaq to remain competitive. The revamped Kushaq was seen being tested in India, showing some visible changes in design and features.

Sharper Styling and Connected Lighting

Spy shots confirm the new Kushaq will include updated LED headlamps, fog lamps positioned lower on the bumper, and some subtle tweaks to the grille design. A more squared-off shape on the air dam gives the front a tougher and sharper appearance.

At the back, the facelifted Kushaq shows slimmer tail-lamps that seem to connect through a strip sticking out from the tailgate, which might be an LED light bar. There are also new alloy wheels and a few minor updates to the rear bumper, completing the exterior changes.

Interior and Features: Focus Shifts to ADAS

The cabin didn’t show up in the spy shots, but insiders expect big changes inside. These might bring in fresh trim designs, upgraded upholstery, and a dashboard packed with more features. The standout tech change will be the addition of a Level 2 ADAS suite, helping the Kushaq stay competitive with models like the Elevate, Seltos, and Astor. There’s also talk of adding a 360-degree camera, which you can already find in the Skoda Kodiaq.

Same Engines With a Gearbox Update Coming Soon

The Kushaq facelift will stick to its current engine options in terms of mechanical setup.

  • The 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine delivers 115 hp and 178Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

  • The 1.5L TSI turbo petrol engine offers 150 hp and 250Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission.

Skoda plans to switch out the 6-speed automatic in the 1.0L model with a new 8-speed AISIN-sourced torque converter, marking an important upgrade. This newer transmission aims to improve fuel economy and align with upcoming CAFE III regulations. However, it will arrive after the facelift hits the market sometime in 2026.

India Launch Timeline

Skoda has hinted it wants to speed up its product updates, and the Kushaq facelift is scheduled to launch in late 2025 or early 2026. With competition intensifying in the mid-size SUV segment, this update could help the Kushaq remain relevant in the market.
