Renault Kiger a Budget-Friendly Compact SUV with High-End Features
The Indian automobile market is flooded with SUVs. After the success of Duster, Renault launched another blockbuster SUV, Renault Kiger. And Kiger is selling like hotcakes. The car is made for first-time SUV buyers and those looking for an affordable, stylish and reliable car for daily commutes and occasional off-roading.

The satin roof rails, 16-inch wheels, sporty rear spoiler and C-shaped LED signature taillights further enhance the looks. The lower variant has a striking resemblance to the junior Kwid. The base model does not offer you many features but it will not let you down for the price you pay.
The car falls in the under 4-meter category and the dimensions measuring 3,991mm in length, 1,605mm in height, 1,750mm in width and a wheelbase of 2500mm are good in the segment it competes. And if that is not enough, the ground clearance of 205mm is pretty good especially when your focus is mainly on your everyday commute.
The Renault Kiger base model features muted melange seat upholstery which is appealing if you are not bothered about embellishment inside. There is a high centre console with an armrest, while the large open storage gives you enough to put your stuff. In the comfort zone, Kiger base model features are sufficient enough for an average driver.
The seating position of the driver is nice and high, with good support for the front seats even for tall drivers. The rear seats also provide an excellent amount of headroom and legroom.

The Renault Kiger gets a 1.0L Energy petrol engine in the base RXE variant. The naturally aspirated engine with a 3-cylinder, multi-point fuel-injection system produces 72PS and 96Nm torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or EASY-R AMT gearbox.
While the power is adequate for city driving, the option of automatic transmission will make it more comfortable for those who want to avoid the hassles of changing gears frequently.
The Renault Kiger base model features a well-balanced suspension that deals with imperfect roads quite well. The car also scores well in terms of stability at high speeds. However, the engine could have been more refined in terms f reducing the noise during acceleration.
The base RXE variant of Renault Kiger comes at a price of INR 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which is similar to most premium hatchbacks available in the market. At this price point, the vehicle offers good performance and enough essential features for everyday commutes.
If you are looking for an entry-range SUV, especially for use in the city limits, Renault Kiger is highly recommended. However, if you want more comfort features and enjoy driving long distances, then you can opt for higher variants.
