Nissan Magnite LHD Exports Surge: 10,000 Units Shipped to Global Markets

Nissan Magnite LHD Gains Global Recognition

The Nissan Magnite, launched in December 2020, has steadily gained popularity in India and overseas markets. Produced at Nissan’s Chennai plant, the compact SUV initially reached 17 global markets in right-hand-drive (RHD) and left-hand-drive (LHD) versions.

Now, with an expanded presence in key markets such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, Magnite’s global footprint continues to grow.

This year, the LHD version is making its way to North Africa, LATAM, and select Asia-Pacific regions, with shipments already crossing 10,000 units by the end of February 2025. The export expansion aligns with Nissan’s vision to make India an export powerhouse, leveraging the country’s competitive manufacturing ecosystem.

Magnite’s Facelift Brings Fresh Appeal

The new Nissan Magnite facelift, introduced recently in India, enhances the SUV with updated styling, new features, and improved safety.

Some key design updates include:

  • Redesigned grille for a sportier look

  • Sleek LED headlamps and fog lamps

  • Glossy black elements and refreshed alloy wheels

  • More than 200mm ground clearance, enhancing road presence

Inside, the cabin receives a dual-tone tan and black color scheme, silver accents, and upgraded tech, including:

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • 7-inch digital instrument cluster

  • 360-degree Around View Monitor for enhanced visibility

  • Sunroof and steering-mounted controls

Nissan has also focused on safety, offering 40+ standard features, including USB Type-C ports and enhanced driver assistance technology.

Powertrain and Performance

The Nissan Magnite comes with two engine options:

  1. 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol – 71hp and 96Nm, with a 5-speed manual or optional AMT

  2. 1.0L turbocharged petrol – 99hp and 160Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT

Both powertrains focus on fuel efficiency while delivering strong performance for city and highway driving.

Nissan Magnite vs. Rivals

In India, the Nissan Magnite competes against compact SUVs like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300. Despite tough competition, the Magnite’s aggressive pricing and feature-packed variants have made it a strong contender in the segment.

Nissan India’s Future Plans

Commenting on the brand’s global success, Frank Torres, President of Nissan India Operations, stated:

“Nissan Motor India has been working to expand its reach both domestically and internationally. The Magnite has been instrumental in our success, and exporting the LHD version to new markets is a significant milestone. We are confident that this India-made SUV will continue to strengthen our export strategy and global growth.”

With a successful facelift launch in India and a booming export strategy, the Nissan Magnite is set to become one of Nissan’s most significant models worldwide, driving the brand’s expansion across multiple continents.
