Nissan Magnite Crosses 2 Lakh Sales in India, Gets New CNG Option

Nissan India has hit a huge milestone with its sub-compact SUV, the Nissan Magnite, surpassing 2 lakh units of sales since its launch in 2020. To reassure investment in the model, Nissan has now launched a retrofitted CNG variant to give buyers another cost-effective and fuel-efficient option in a sub-compact SUV.

This variant is hot on the heels of Nissan reinvigorating the competitive sub-compact SUV segment with a midlife facelift to the Magnite in October 2024.

Affordable Entry and Now CNG Too

Nissan's budget SUV segment is still good news for people looking for them, with the Magnite starting from an affordable Rs. 6.14 lakh (ex-showroom). CNG buyers now have a more economical version of the Magnite to buy, albeit with a premium price of Rs. 75,000 when compared to the standard petrol variant.

This CNG version of the SUV is retrofitted, allowing Nissan to quickly pursue the increasing demand for alternative fuel vehicles by not completely reengineering the SUV.

Engine & Transmission choices

The Nissan Magnite offers two petrol engines:

  • 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol

  • 1.0-litre turbo-petrol

The CNG option only comes with the NA petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. While this limits CNG buyers to certain drivetrain choices, this keeps their costs in check and in line with most CNG buyers of this vehicle, who use it as a value buyer.

Warranty & After-Sales Assurance

Customers buying the CNG-fitted Magnite will get the same standard 3-year/1 lakh kilometre warranty, so they can feel confident in the reliability and maintenance.

A Key Player in Nissan's India Lineup

Nissan’s India business will need the success of the Magnite to continue, which provides good value, spacious interiors, and a reasonable list. As the company finds ways to continue the momentum, producing a CNG version is an obvious next step to reach the fuel-conscious buying public who wants an affordable and practical product.

With the addition of this variant to its model line-up, it further cements the success of the Magnite as one of the best-selling models in Nissan India’s history.
