Next-Gen Kia Seltos Spotted Testing in Europe: Design and Features Revealed

Already one of the first cars, the new-age Kia Seltos, will soon get an age update; it is known news that Kia is famous as the Korean company first launched in India.

The next-gen model of the compact SUV was caught in a short testing session in snowy conditions recently in Europe. Although covered extensively in camouflage, the spied Seltos test mule brings a whole lot of exciting specs in the first looks; the new Seltos will have a little boxy design compared to the current model, along with updated headlights and taillights.

Let's have a glimpse at all we could see on the new Kia Seltos from the spy photos.

What Do The Spy Photos Reveal?

The spy photos reveal that the latest Kia Seltos will feature an all-new box-shaped set of LED headlights to replace the sloping ones present in the latest model. The hood seems to be more rising, and the grille features a boxier profile with vertical slats.

The bumper might be camouflaged from clear visibility, but it looks like the new Seltos will have two stripe-type LED fog lamps on either side, similar to those placed in the Kia Sonet.

New from the side is the boxier shape of the new Seltos, which makes it look like an SUV. The rear-quarter glass is even quite a bit more sizable.

On the rear, the design of the tailgate still lies hidden underneath, but from a little beneath the tailgate, we have observations of C-shaped LED taillights and slanted LED turn indicators, along with a horizontal bulge that might be a light bar spanning the taillights.

The interior is still a mystery, but it is likely to have a modern dashboard with a triple-screen setup like the Kia Syros.

Expected Features And Safety Suite

Like the interior design, the feature suite of the next-generation Seltos is yet to be revealed. However, it is likely to come with features including:

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens (one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation) and

  • A 5-inch touch-enabled screen for AC controls, similar to the Kia Syros

Furthermore, it can continue to feature amenities including:

  • A panoramic sunroof

  • Dual-zone auto AC

  • Wireless phone charger and

  • Ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats

An added dimension of the safety part will have it anchored with the following:

  • 6 airbags (as standard)

  • Electronics parking brake

  • Disc brakes on all wheels

  • 360-degree camera and

  • A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)

That said, a radar housing on the front grille of the spied Seltos confirms that the compact SUV will continue with an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite, with features including adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning.

Expected Powertrain Options

The powertrain options of the next generation Kia Seltos are expected to hold the same powertrain options which are available with the current-spec model.

*CVT = Continuously variable transmission; iMT = Manual gearbox without clutch; AT = Torque converter automatic transmission

Interestingly, certain media sources suggest that there are chances that the new Seltos could come equipped with a hybrid powertrain along with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. We will have to wait a little more time for this information to be officially confirmed, though.

Expected Price And Competitors

A little bit more will be the cost of the upcoming new-generation Kia Seltos than that of the current current-spec version available in the range of Rs. 11.13 lakh and Rs. 20.51 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

However, it will still compete with other compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
