March 2026 sees the return of two discontinued fan favourites, the Renault Duster and Mercedes-Benz V-Class, both making a comeback after a four-year absence from the Indian market.
The month caters to every kind of buyer, from the performance-hungry luxury SUV shopper eyeing the Audi SQ8 to the family-car hunter looking at the refreshed Skoda Kushaq facelift.
If February kept Indian car buyers busy with a flurry of launches and unveilings, March is picking up right where it left off, and then some. Big nameplates are making their return, new electric options are joining the fold, and a fire-breathing German SUV is set to cause quite a stir. Let's get into it.
After being discontinued in India back in 2022, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is back, and it's arriving in facelifted form. This updated version was first revealed globally in 2023, and Mercedes has brought it over in an Extra-Long Wheelbase configuration.
The updated model gets a redesigned front grille, dual 12.3-inch screens, and luxury second-row seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. Globally, it's offered with multiple seating layouts, including 8-seat, 7-seat and a more luxurious 6-seat configuration with captain seats in the second and third rows. The exact powertrain for India is yet to be officially confirmed, though petrol and diesel options are on offer in international markets.
Rivals: Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, and MG M9 in the growing premium MPV space.
Few nameplates carry as much nostalgia in India as the Renault Duster, and the third-generation model is finally here. The new-generation SUV has already started reaching showrooms across India for display and test drives, with deliveries slated to begin in April.
It is based on the CMF-B platform and gets 212 mm of ground clearance. The cabin features dual 10-inch screens and a panoramic sunroof. In terms of powertrains, the Duster will be offered with a 100hp 1-litre turbo-petrol engine shared with the Kiger and a more powerful 163hp 1.3-litre four-cylinder unit. A strong hybrid variant is expected to arrive closer to Diwali 2026.
Rivals: Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Sierra.
If you've always felt the standard Q8 needed a bit more fire, Audi's SQ8 might be exactly what you were waiting for. The SQ8 uses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as the RS Q8 but in a lower state of tune, producing 507hp and 770 Nm. Audi claims a 0-100kph time of 4.1 seconds.
The SUV features Matrix LED headlights, sporty design elements and a premium cabin, and will be brought in as a CBU unit. It slots neatly between the standard Q8 and the range-topping RS Q8, giving buyers a compelling middle ground.
Rivals: Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 AMG Coupe and the Porsche Cayenne GTS.
The Skoda Kushaq has been a solid performer since its 2021 debut, and the facelift only makes it more desirable. The new Kushaq comes with a handful of enhancements inside and out, including a refreshed set of LED lighting and seat upholstery.
Top features on board include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof and a massage function for the rear seats.
The headline mechanical change? The introduction of a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox with the 115hp 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed automatic. Skoda has also added rear disc brakes, a welcome upgrade. Production of the Kushaq facelift has already commenced at Skoda's Chakan plant in Pune.
Toyota is joining the mass-market EV conversation with the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its badge-engineered take on the Maruti e Vitara. It will come with two battery options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, offering up to 543 km of range. The SUV will get dual 10.25-inch screens, a JBL sound system, a panoramic glass roof and Level 2 ADAS in higher variants.
The company is backing the EV with over 500 EV-enabled service touchpoints, an 8-year battery warranty, a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental option and a 60 per cent buyback assurance scheme. It competes with the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Mahindra BE 6.
When the MG Hector and Hector Plus got another facelift in December 2025, the carmaker introduced both offerings with a petrol powertrain only. Now, MG is likely to launch the diesel variants to cater to a wider set of buyers. No visual changes are expected, but the addition of a diesel option should broaden the appeal considerably.
