The Maybach GLS gets new looks, new wheels and a nicer cabin inside
The engine is now stronger, making 600bhp and 850Nm of power
Mercedes-Maybach has updated its biggest luxury SUV, but the outside changes are small, not major. The grille now has a light-up ring around it, and for the first time, the word Maybach on the grille lights up too. The headlights have been changed with a rose-gold touch, and the tail lights look different as well.
Buyers can now pick from new 22-inch and 23-inch wheels. There are also new paint colours to choose from, including a new two-tone option.
The biggest updates are inside the car:
There are new Nappa leather seat options and more trim choices for those who want a more personal look.
Both the front and back seats now have better massage settings.
The sound system has also been upgraded to a 15-speaker Burmester setup.
On top of that, Mercedes has made the cabin quieter by improving the sound insulation and the air filters, so long drives feel calmer and more comfortable.
The car uses an updated 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, now paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. It makes 600bhp and 850Nm of power. There is also an extra 23bhp boost available from a small hybrid motor built into the engine.
Mercedes has also changed how the steering feels and updated the air suspension so it can react faster to bumps.
Buyers can also choose a system called E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, which leans the car into corners to keep passengers more comfortable.
The updated car also comes with Mercedes' newest software, called MB.OS. This works with an upgraded MBUX system that includes an AI voice assistant. In some countries, the car also gets more advanced driver assistance features to help with safer driving.
The updated Maybach GLS is already on sale in China. Deliveries in the United States and Europe are expected to start later this year. More details on pricing for each country are likely to come closer to launch.
