Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, has introduced the much-anticipated CNG version of its popular hatchback, the Maruti Swift with prices starting at Rs. 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom) This launch brings eco-friendly mobility to one of the country’s best-selling cars, expanding Maruti’s already impressive portfolio of CNG vehicles to a total of 14 models The Swift CNG is set to be delivered to customers beginning 12 October 2024 and it aims to cater to the increasing demand for cost-effective, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation.
The Maruti Swift CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine In petrol mode, this engine delivers a healthy output of 80bhp and 112Nm of torque However, when switched to CNG mode, the power figures slightly dip to 69bhp and 102Nm of torque which is typical for CNG-powered vehicles.
Despite the power reduction, the Swift CNG maintains a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency. The biggest highlight of the new Swift CNG is its mileage of 32.85km/kg a six per cent improvement over the previous-generation Swift. This increase in fuel efficiency will certainly appeal to budget-conscious buyers, especially in times of fluctuating fuel prices.
