Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, S-Presso Get New Safety Feature; ESP Now Standard

Maruti Suzuki has updated its popular hatchbacks, the Alto K10 and S-Presso, by adding the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as a standard feature. This safety enhancement ensures that both models are better equipped to maintain stability on the road. Importantly, this update does not come with a price increase, making it an even better deal for buyers.

The ESP system works by integrating features like ABS, stability control, and traction control to prevent the vehicle from losing traction and skidding. Using onboard sensors, the system continuously monitors the car’s movement and steps in if it detects any instability or loss of traction, helping the vehicle stay on its intended path.

Previously, ESP was available only on the S-Presso AMT variant. With this update, the feature is now standard across all variants of the Alto K10 and S-Presso, making them safer choices in their segments.

According to Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, the inclusion of ESP as a standard feature aligns with the company’s goal of making advanced safety features accessible to more customers. He emphasized that this update is part of Maruti’s broader effort to enhance safety and drive confidence across its product lineup.

The price range for the Alto K10 remains between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom), while the S-Presso is priced from Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 6.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Both models share the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10 petrol engine and offer CNG variants as well. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

This update comes after Maruti’s earlier safety upgrade in April 2023, where most of its models, except the Alto K10, Eeco, and manual variants of the S-Presso, were equipped with ESP. Now, with this latest change, the Eeco remains the only Maruti model without this safety system.
