Maruti Fronx Hits 5 Lakh Sales, Leads Nexa SUV Range
  • The Maruti Fronx has become the first SUV in Nexa's lineup to surpass 5 lakh cumulative sales since its launch in April 2023.
  • FY2026 was the model's strongest year yet, and the last 1 lakh units were dispatched in just six months.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has crossed a significant milestone, becoming the first SUV from the carmaker's premium Nexa retail channel to surpass 5 lakh cumulative sales.

From its launch in April 2023 through to the end of May 2026, the compact coupe SUV logged total sales of 5,12,829 units, representing a 22 percent share of the 22,80,628 utility vehicles Maruti Suzuki has sold in India over that same period.

Year-on-Year Growth Tells a Consistent Story

Fronx Holds a 21-23 Percent UV Share Across Every Fiscal Year Since Launch

The Fronx wasted no time in establishing itself. In FY2024, its first full fiscal year on sale, it sold 1,34,735 units and held a 21 percent share of Maruti's UV dispatches.

Sales climbed 23 percent year-on-year in FY2025 to 1,66,216 units, maintaining a 23 percent UV share. FY2026 was its strongest year yet, with 1,72,363 units sold and the same 23 percent share of Maruti's record UV tally of 7,60,987 units.

Fiscal YearFronx SalesMaruti UV Share (%)
FY20241,34,73521
FY20251,66,21623
FY20261,72,36323
FY2027 (Apr–May 2026)39,51525

The momentum has only picked up in the early months of FY2027. In April and May 2026, the Fronx sold 39,515 units, a 42 percent jump year-on-year, giving it a 25 percent share of the 1,57,159 UVs that Maruti dispatched to dealers during those two months.

The pace at which the Fronx has racked up sales milestones is telling. It reached 1 lakh units in just 10 months, 2 lakh in 17, and 3 lakh in just over 23 months.

Notably, the final 1 lakh of its 5-lakh tally was achieved in just six months, suggesting that demand, far from plateauing, is actually gathering pace.

Fronx Leads the Nexa SUV Pack by a Wide Margin

Among Nexa models, the Fronx ranked second in FY2026, finishing just 197 units behind the Baleno at 1,72,363 units versus the hatchback's 1,72,560.

In FY2027 so far, the Fronx has pulled ahead, outselling both the Baleno (36,702 units) and the Grand Vitara (17,084 units) in the April–May 2026 period. Cumulatively, it leads all Nexa SUVs, ahead of the Grand Vitara, XL6, Jimny, Invicto, and e Vitara.

Its dominance over the Grand Vitara is particularly striking. Despite the larger SUV launching six months earlier, the Fronx overtook it on the way to the 3-lakh milestone and has only widened the gap since, outselling it by 13,566 units in FY2024, 42,570 in FY2025, 88,514 in FY2026, and over 22,000 units in just the first two months of FY2027.

A Strong Export Performer Too

Beyond domestic sales, the Fronx has made its mark on the global stage. Over 1.75 lakh units have been exported to date. In FY2026, it was the top made-in-India passenger vehicle export, with 90,186 units shipped, accounting for 20 percent of Maruti's record exports of 4,43,825 units and 10 percent of total passenger vehicle exports from India of 9,05,200 units.

In May 2026, when Maruti's overall UV dispatches hit a record monthly high of 79,267 units, the Fronx sold 20,686 units to become the carmaker's bestselling SUV for the month and second overall, behind only the Wagon R. It was also just the third time the model had crossed 20,000 monthly sales.

Priced between Rs 6.85 lakh and Rs 11.98 lakh (ex-showroom) across five trims, Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha, the Fronx continues to find its sweet spot with buyers looking for coupe SUV styling, a petrol or CNG powertrain choice (including a sportier 1.0-litre turbo unit), and strong real-world fuel efficiency, all within a competitive price bracket.
