Mahindra XEV 9S: "Electric Boss Mode" is a game-changer
  • Mahindra teases the XEV 9S's electric Boss Mode, which allows backseat passengers to reposition the front seat for greater legroom.

  • For a more upscale, lounge-like experience, the future seven-seater EV will also have a triple-screen dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, and reclining second-row seats.

According to Mahindra's latest teaser, the XEV 9S will include electric Boss Mode, which is a significant improvement over the manual version available in its ICE SUVs.

This device clearly nods to premium chauffeur-style comfort by enabling the second-row passenger to electrically move and recline the front passenger seat, resulting in ample legroom.

Comfort-Centered Design and Interior Design

Lounge-like and roomy cabin

The 9S, which is based on Mahindra's INGLO electric platform, boasts a spacious three-row configuration. Thanks to special controls, seats in the second row are able to slide and recline. The feeling of openness and airiness is enhanced with a full-length panoramic sunroof.

High-Tech Display

A digital instrument cluster, a center infotainment screen, and a screen for the front passenger make up the dashboard's three screens. Additional opulent features include ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Range, Positioning, and Power

Industry sources indicate that the XEV 9S will employ the same 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs as the XEV 9e and BE 6, even though Mahindra hasn't officially disclosed all specifications.

These battery alternatives are expected to generate between 231 and 286 horsepower, and the larger pack may have a stated range of more than 650 kilometers. A future AWD model with an extra motor on the front axle to improve performance is also being discussed.

Pricing and Launch

On November 27, 2025, Mahindra will formally introduce the XEV 9S at its "Scream Electric" event in Bengaluru. Although Mahindra may provide a competitive introductory pricing, price estimates based on teasers range from ₹21 lakh (ex-showroom).

The XEV 9S's Unique Features

Mahindra's choice to include an electric Boss Mode in the XEV 9S elevates the standard for passenger comfort in a popular EV by providing rear-seat passengers with previously unheard-of control over seating and spaciousness. This feature, along with a lounge-like cabin and first-rate facilities, makes the 9S a desirable option for purchasers looking for a luxurious, chauffeur-friendly experience as well as for large families.

In India's expanding three-row electric SUV market, the XEV 9S has the ability to create trends thanks to its cutting-edge design and comfort-focused philosophy.
