Mahindra Vision S Spied Again With Two DRL Designs
Two test mules show differing light signatures, possibly for separate variants.
The electric version is still expected to join the line-up later.
Mahindra's upcoming Vision S compact SUV has been caught testing yet again, this time in hilly terrain that could mark one of the final stages before its official unveiling.
The SUV has previously been seen wearing headlight units borrowed from the Thar, but the latest sighting throws up a fresh twist. Two separate test mules have now been photographed, each carrying a distinct daytime running light design.
The overall front fascia stays largely unchanged between the two mules, but the lighting treatment differs enough to catch the eye.
Neither vehicle appears to be the electric version, going by the open grille visible in both cases, though a battery-powered variant is still widely expected to join the range eventually. The differing DRL signatures are more likely an indication of separate trim levels or variants rather than two distinct powertrain options.
The most significant piece of information to emerge from ongoing test mule sightings is the architecture the Vision S rides on. It is built on Mahindra's NU_IQ platform, a modular setup designed to underpin everything from sub-four-metre models to larger, full-size SUVs.
The platform has been engineered to support both combustion and electric powertrains, with suitable tweaks made depending on the type of vehicle in question. Earlier spy videos and photographs have already confirmed that the Vision S will be offered with a diesel engine paired to a manual gearbox.
Mahindra has not put out an official timeline for models built on this new platform, though a reasonable guess can be made based on past announcements. The platform and the original concept were first unveiled on 15 August, 2025, so further reveals could plausibly land around the same date this year, on 15 August, 2026.
As things stand, production of the Vision series is expected to begin sometime in 2027, meaning buyers will likely have a fair wait ahead before the SUV reaches showrooms.
With test mules now being spotted at a steady pace and apparently entering a more advanced testing phase, the Vision S appears to be inching closer to a proper public debut, even if a formal launch date remains some way off.
