Mahindra Thar 5-Door Edition enters the Final Testing Phase

In the automotive world, the much-awaited Mahindra Thar 5-door variant has been creating waves. Its latest testing phase has been gathering much attention these days. The SUV is nearing completion, and a test mule was sighted close to ARAI's Pune headquarters, suggesting that the launch is happening soon.

Test Mule Spotted and Specifications

It is thought that the test mule that was observed is an advanced model of the forthcoming Thar Armanda. It was fitted with brand-new 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, displaying the three-wheel configurations the SUV might have. Higher trim levels will come with alloy wheels, while the base model will have steel wheels. Furthermore, an earlier spy photo showed that the SUV will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, just like the new XUV 3XO.

Design and Features

In comparison to the Thar 3-door variant, the new Thar will include a revamped grille, a rear wiper, a remote fuel-filling cap, and new bumpers. In addition, it will have push-button start/stop, rear AC vents, LED lighting, a fully digital instrument cluster, and front and rear center armrests, among other amenities. The five-door model will include disc brakes at the back and six airbags.

Cost and Available Engines

The Thar 5-door variant is anticipated to start at approximately Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Two engines that are now available for the Scorpio N, a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel, will power the SUV. It is anticipated that the power outputs would resemble the Scorpio N. It will feature a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol generating 203 horsepower and a 2.2-liter diesel engine generating 175 horsepower. There will be 2WD and 4WD versions available for the Thar 5-door vehicle.

Competition and Availability

We'll be marketing the Mahindra Thar 5-door as the Thar Armada. The 4×2 varieties will be released later, and only the 4×4 variants will be available at first. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha 5-door model will be the rivals of the 5-door Thar.
