Lok Adalat on 13 Sept.: Apply Online for Traffic Challan Waiver

The next National Lok Adalat will be organised on 13 September 2025 and will be the third in the year. These courts also act as a platform to achieve alternative dispute resolution, which would otherwise take years to process under the traditional courts.

Lok Adalats are organised under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and they deal with a wide range of issues like property disputes, cheque bounce cases, family issues, as well as traffic tickets. A Lok Adalat decision has the same weight as an order of the court.

Waiver Opportunity Traffic Challan

This is the biggest attraction of this Lok Adalat, since the traffic challans are forgiven. The old or small challans are fully waived or paid off in nominal terms, in most instances. These waivers include activities like driving without a helmet or seatbelt, parking offences, or even breaking a red light. This move gives a huge relief to motorists with outstanding fines.

Challan Waiver Application

Applicants must go to the NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) site and complete a web-based application form to have a chance of participating.

Once the required information is completed and the required documents have been uploaded, applicants are sent a confirmation email and token number. This is a token used to schedule them for the Lok Adalat session.

Documents Required

Applicants must carry key documents to ensure their challans are considered. These include:

  • Copy of the traffic challan

  • Vehicle registration certificate (RC)

  • Driving license

  • Identity proof

  • Copy of summons or notice (if any)

  • Old challan payment receipts

  • Authorisation letter (if applicable)

Missing documents could reduce the chances of getting a challan waived.

The Lok Adalat of September 13, therefore, comes at the right time, where citizens can effectively clear their pending challans, and also ease pressure on the courts.
