It marks the global debut of Kia’s generative AI voice assistant alongside Level 2 ADAS and a premium dual-screen cabin layout.
Kia has revealed the India-spec Sorento ahead of its launch on September 4, 2026. The three-row SUV will become Kia's flagship ICE-powered model in India and will also mark the company's entry into the strong-hybrid segment in the country.
Production has commenced at Kia's Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, and the model will have a high level of localisation. Bookings are currently open, while prices will be announced at launch.
The India-spec Sorento features Kia's Tiger Nose grille, vertically positioned LED headlamps and Y-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front bumper also gets a wide central air intake, LED fog lamps and vertical vents towards the edges.
Along the sides, the SUV gets satin-finished trim on the front fenders, chrome around the window line and dual-tone alloy wheels. Kia has not confirmed the wheel size, although the units shown are expected to measure 19 inches.
The India-spec Sorento measures:
Length: 4,815 mm
Width: 1,900 mm
Height: 1,700 mm
Wheelbase: 2,815 mm
At the rear, the Sorento gets squared-off tail lamps with an inverted L-shaped LED signature, along with a roof spoiler and a two-tone bumper.
The Sorento gets a connected display panel with separate screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Kia has not announced their dimensions, although both are expected to measure 12.3 inches.
The equipment list includes:
ADAS functions
Ventilated front seats
Digital interior rear-view mirror
Electrically operated tailgate
Dual-zone climate control
Ambient lighting
360-degree camera
Panoramic sunroof
Wireless phone charger
The Sorento is expected to be offered in six- and seven-seat configurations. It will also feature Kia's generative AI voice assistant, which will make its global debut with the India-spec Sorento.
Kia has confirmed two powertrain options for the Sorento in India. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder strong hybrid produces 238 hp and 380 Nm and will be offered with all-wheel drive.
The diesel version produces 202 hp and 441 Nm. Both powertrains are expected to use automatic transmissions, although Kia has not yet announced the complete India-spec gearbox details.
Official Kia Sorento prices will be announced on 4 September 2026. The prices are expected to be around ₹30 lakh-₹35 lakh (ex-showroom), helped by the model's localisation in India.
Once launched, the Sorento will compete with three-row SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian. With bookings open and production underway, details such as the complete variant lineup and final prices will be announced at launch.
