Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift Launched in India at Rs. 55.70 Lakh With 690km Range
The updated Ioniq 5 gets a larger 84kWh battery with an ARAI-certified range of up to 690km, replacing the outgoing 72.6kWh unit.
Priced at Rs. 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), it represents a Rs. 12.10 lakh increase over the previous model.
Hyundai has wasted no time in refreshing its flagship electric offering for the Indian market. The updated Ioniq 5 was officially launched on April 28, 2026, at Rs. 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), arriving with meaningful changes across its battery, design, cabin, and technology.
Built on Hyundai's E-GMP platform, this version steps in at a notably higher price point than the outgoing model, which retailed at Rs. 43.60 lakh, a difference of Rs. 12.10 lakh.
The headline change is undoubtedly the battery. The earlier 72.6kWh unit has been replaced with a larger 84kWh pack, and Hyundai claims an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 690km, placing the Ioniq 5 firmly among the longest-range EVs currently available in India.
Hyundai has not disclosed power output figures for the India-specific version, though globally the rear-wheel-drive model with this battery produces 229hp and 350Nm of torque.
The Ioniq 5's iconic Parametric Pixel design language remains intact, and that is not a complaint. What the facelift does bring are targeted cosmetic revisions that feel considered rather than gratuitous.
The front gets a redesigned bumper with a more open layout, complemented by revised skid plates. New alloy wheels freshen up the profile, while the rear benefits from an updated bumper, a new roof spoiler, and a reworked V-garnish lighting element. The pixel-based lighting signature that the Ioniq 5 is known for continues unchanged.
Buyers can choose from four exterior colours, namely Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey, and Optic White, all paired with an Obsidian Black interior theme.
Step inside, and the lounge-like quality the Ioniq 5 has always offered remains intact. The dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument readout carry over, but the cabin gains a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated four-dot motif and a heating function.
The centre console now houses additional physical controls for heated and ventilated seats, which is a welcome return to tactility. The wireless charging pad has been repositioned, and the cup holders have been updated alongside.
On the technology front, the facelift adds Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), controller over-the-air (C-OTA) updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and in-car payment integration specifically for EV charging.
A remote immobilisation function has also been introduced through Hyundai's Bluelink connected car system.
Safety upgrades include Parking Collision Avoidance Assist at the rear and Side Parking Distance Warning, adding to the existing advanced driver assistance suite already on offer.
The updated Ioniq 5 continues as Hyundai's flagship EV for India and competes directly in the premium electric crossover space against rivals including the Kia EV6, BYD Sealion 7, Volvo EX40, and BMW iX1.
