May has set a benchmark for the Indian Automotive market sales reports, with 3.49 lakh cars sold across segments, the month of May saw a 3.6% increase in aggregate passenger car sales compared to last month and a 4.4% year-on-year growth over May 2023. It has been reported that May was a dull month despite the consistent rise, with the second round of the general elections and the absence of celebrations having a significant impact on sales. The low total number of dispatches was a result of declining customer demand and a huge stockpile of leftover goods. Anyways, The Indian car market also saw a big boost in sales in May 2024. Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was the best-selling car in India in May 2024. According to the reports With 19,393 sales in May 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Swift emerged as the top-selling vehicle in India. When compared to the same month previous year, this is an increase of 11.80%. The Swift has a new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that starts at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This engine is a little less powerful than the previous one, producing 80 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The fuel efficiency of the manual Swift is 24.8 km/l, whereas the automatic variant achieves 25.75 km/l.

Tata Punch

The Tata Punch, which now includes an electric variant, dropped from its prior top place to become the second best-seller. From 11,124 units sold in May 2023 to 18,949 units in May 2024, Tata Motors had a staggering 70.34% growth in sales. The ex-showroom price of the petrol Punch variant is Rs 6.13 lakh, while the electric Punch starts at Rs 10.99 lakh. The electric vehicle (EV) has two battery options: 25kWh and 35kWh, while the gasoline counterpart features a 1.2-liter engine.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

In May, 16,061 Maruti Suzuki Dzires were sold, good for third place. Compared to the 11,315 units sold in the same month last year, there has been a notable 41.94% increase. The ex-showroom price range for the Dzire is Rs 6.57 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh. It has a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and an automated or 5-speed manual transmission. For individuals wishing to use a different fuel source, there is also a CNG version available.

Hyundai Creta

The Sales of the Hyundai Creta in May were 14,662, which represents a marginal increase of 1.47% over the 14,449 units sold in May 2023. This Popular five-seat SUV, the Creta is available with three different engine options: 1.5-liter gasoline with natural aspiration, 1.5-liter diesel, and a new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol. Seven variations are available: S, S(O), SX, SX Tech, E, EX, S, and SX(O). The pricing (ex-showroom) ranges from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20.15 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Despite a minor drop in year-on-year sales, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR remained among the top five best-sellers, with 14,492 units sold in May. The ex-showroom price range for the WagonR is Rs 5.54 lakh to Rs 7.38 lakh. It has two options for petrol engines: a 1-liter engine that generates 66 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque, and a 1.2-liter engine that generates 88.7 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque.
