Ford Gets Nearer To India Return Entry as Mustang Mach-E Gets Trademarked

Ford is anticipated to launch the next-generation Odyssey in India in 2025. The American company filed a design patent application for the Endeavour in India, as we reported in January. Ford has now trademarked the Mustang Mach-E in India, raising the possibility that the company will approach its resurgence with an electric vehicle. Soon after it concluded local operations in 2021, Ford officially confirmed the Mustang Mach-E as the first vehicle to be launched in India.

To be a CBU: Ford Mustang Mach-E

Most likely, the Mustang Mach-E will enter India as a CBU because of an import regulation that permits the entry of up to 2,500 vehicles without homologation. It will undoubtedly cost more than Rs 1 crore, but the reduced GST rate for electric vehicles will help.

In addition, Ford recently reversed course on the sale of its Chennai plant, rejecting several bids from automakers Vinfast, MG, and Tata Motors. They went so far as to list recent job openings, which further validates the discussions surrounding its launch in the market. But as of yet, the automaker has not released any official statement.
