December 2025: India Will See the Arrival of Three Major Cars
  • A look at three significant vehicles that will be unveiled in India in December 2025.

  • Important information about each model, from gasoline-powered SUVs to a top automaker's first electric vehicle.

New Maruti e Vitara: An Electric Step Forward

The introduction of the Maruti e Vitara is this month's biggest surprise. This will be the Indian manufacturer's first entirely electric car. The e Vitara is anticipated to arrive on December 10, 2025, and its estimated price ranges from ₹17 lakh to ₹22.5 lakh.

LED projector headlamps, unique Y-shaped daytime running lights, wrap-around LED tail lamps, and sporty dual-tone alloy wheels will all contribute to the design's new aesthetic. It will have a contemporary cabin with two screens: a 10.1-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

According to reports, the e Vitara has a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, a fixed glass top, and a high-end sound system. It will have six airbags and a Level-2 ADAS suite for safety. Two battery pack options, a 49 kWh regular battery and a 61 kWh long-range battery, are available to customers beneath the skin.

For many, the long-range model is an appealing EV choice because it promises to travel more than 500 kilometers between charges.

Tata Harrier and Tata Safari: New petrol options for the flagship SUVs

Customers of two of the most popular SUVs in the nation, the Harrier and Safari, will get a new petrol-powered alternative starting on December 9, 2025. Both SUVs have only been available with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that generates 350 Nm and 170 PS up until now.

160 PS and 255 Nm are the ratings of the new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine. Either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission are anticipated to be paired with it. Due to this additional engine option, the petrol versions of these SUVs will probably be less expensive than the diesel ones, making them more affordable for city drivers and those switching from smaller cars.

The Harrier and Safari may now appeal to consumers searching for smoother, lighter, and more fuel-efficient gasoline substitutes, expanding their appeal beyond typical SUV buyers who favored diesel for long-distance and highway travel.

Kia Seltos (Next-Gen) Global Reveal

The latest generation Kia Seltos will also be unveiled globally in December. Although the global release date of this forthcoming version is set for December 10, 2025, its arrival in India may come later.

According to preliminary information and spy photos, the new Seltos will have a more robust, boxy SUV stance than the current model. Its revised design seeks to revitalize its position in the fiercely competitive small SUV market.

The redesign and increased worldwide visibility indicate that the new Seltos is being positioned to appeal to consumers seeking new looks and a contemporary SUV feel when it ultimately arrives in India, even though complete specs have not yet been made public.

What This Signifies for Customers

With the December releases and unveilings scheduled, Indian consumers will have more options, ranging from a globally new compact SUV to an affordable EV offering and petrol-powered SUVs. A mainstream manufacturer's all-electric alternative could hasten the adoption of EVs among regular consumers.

In the meantime, adding gasoline engines to SUVs that were previously exclusively diesel could increase their appeal to city people or those who are moving away from traditional sedans or hatchbacks.

December 2025 appears to be a significant month for SUV fans and those looking to purchase their next vehicle. Keep an eye out since the new releases may determine how India's auto industry develops in the years to come.
