Citroen Basalt: New Coupe SUV Spotted Before India Launch

Citroen will soon launch the Basalt, its very first coupe SUV in the Indian market. It is all set to debut on 2 August, and ahead of this, the model has been spotted reaching dealerships in a new red color.

Exterior Design

The Citroen Basalt's design closely resembles its concept version. Built on the same platform as the C3 Aircross, it features a high-riding stance and a familiar front fascia seen in other Citroen models in India. The car includes flat-type door handles, a dipping roofline that merges with the boot, and uniquely designed wrap-around tail lamps. The sides sport black plastic claddings and dual-tone alloy wheels with a new design.

Interior Features

Teasers from Citroen have revealed a glimpse of the Basalt's interior. The cabin will have updates similar to the C3 Aircross, including enhancements in the front and rear armrests, with the rear armrest featuring cupholders and a smartphone holder. Additionally, headrest support is anticipated, all covered in leatherette upholstery. The Basalt will come with a 10.2-inch infotainment display supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a digital driver's display and physical buttons for air conditioning.

Engine and Performance

The Citroen Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder PureTech 110 engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. With these specifications, the Basalt is set to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, in the Indian market.

In Conclusion, The Citroen Basalt, with its stylish design and advanced features, aims to make a significant impact in the competitive Indian SUV market. Its upcoming launch in August is highly anticipated by car enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
