Chery Lepas L6 Powertrains Confirmed for the UK Market Ahead of Q4 2026 Debut
The Lepas L6 hybrid offers over 1100 km of combined range under the WLTC cycle

Chery Automobile, the prolific Chinese carmaker that has been steadily making inroads into global markets, is preparing to introduce a new sub-brand to British buyers. That brand is Lepas, and its debut model, the L6, is scheduled to go on sale in the United Kingdom in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Until now, very little was known about what would power the car. That has changed, and the figures are rather striking.
The headline option is undoubtedly the 1.5-litre hybrid, which makes use of Chery's in-house CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) technology.
Under the WLTC cycle, this powertrain delivers a combined range of up to 700 miles, which works out to approximately 1,126 km. That is the sort of figure that would make even the most range-anxious motorist breathe a sigh of relief, and it positions the Lepas L6 as a genuinely compelling proposition for long-distance driving.
For those who prefer to go fully electric, the Lepas L6 will also be offered with a BEV powertrain. This version is underpinned by a 67kWh battery pack, delivering a range of up to 270 miles, or around 434.5 km. That is a respectable figure for an SUV in this class, comfortably covering most daily use cases and then some.
Aesthetically, the Lepas L6 shares its general silhouette with the Tiggo 8 series, though it carries a revised front fascia that gives it a more distinct identity within the Chery family.
Whether that differentiation will be enough to carve out its own personality in the crowded UK SUV market remains to be seen, but it is a reasonable starting point for a brand making its debut.
Chery Automobile has already filed patents for several of its models in India, with plans to sell them through the JSW Motors partnership. The Lepas nameplate was among the cars included in those patent filings.
However, as things stand, an India-specific launch date for the L6 has not been confirmed. Should it arrive, it would join a growing roster of JSW-Chery offerings that already includes the Jetour T2, iCAUR V23, Tiggo 8 series, Jaecoo J5 and J7, and the T1TP pickup. There is a clear portfolio taking shape, and the L6 would slot in logically.
For now, all eyes are on the UK market, where the Lepas L6's Q4 2026 debut will serve as a proper litmus test for how the new sub-brand is received in a mature and discerning automotive market.
