BYD has officially launched the Sealion 7 electric SUV in India, with prices starting at ₹48.9 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Premium variant and going up to ₹54.9 lakh for the top-spec Performance trim.
Initially showcased at Auto Expo 2025, the Sealion 7 has been available for pre-bookings since its debut, and deliveries of the first 70 units are set to begin on March 7.
The Sealion 7 is offered in two variants, both of which come with an 82.56kWh LFP low-voltage battery pack. The key differences lie in their power outputs, drivetrain configurations, and range figures.

Premium | ₹48.9 lakh | 82.56kWh |
Performance | ₹54.9 lakh | 82.56kWh |
The BYD Sealion 7 follows the brand’s Ocean-X design language, similar to the BYD Seal sedan. The crossover-like proportions, sloping roofline, and sculpted bodywork give it a sporty appeal. Key highlights include:
X-shaped styling elements on the front bumper, headlights, and taillamps, similar to the Seal sedan.
19-inch alloy wheels on the Premium variant, upgraded to 20-inch wheels on the Performance trim.
Four color options: Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, Cosmos Black, and Shark Grey.
Inside, the Sealion 7 offers a premium, tech-loaded cabin with a driver-centric layout. The 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage, alongside a floating digital instrument cluster.
Other features include:
Ventilated front seats
Connected car technology
Electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function
Panoramic glass roof with sunshade
50W wireless phone charger
Heads-up display (HUD)
Powered tailgate
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) function
Practicality is also a strong point, with a 520-litre boot capacity, expandable to 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded down. Additionally, a 58-litre frunk (front trunk) provides extra storage.
BYD has equipped the Sealion 7 with comprehensive safety features, including:
11 airbags
360-degree camera
Blind spot detection
Forward collision warning
Intelligent cruise control
Automatic emergency braking (AEB)
The 82.56kWh battery powers two different drivetrain configurations:
Premium (RWD)
313hp and 380Nm
0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds
WLTP-claimed range: 482km
Performance (AWD)
530hp and 690Nm
0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds
WLTP-claimed range: 456km
The BYD Sealion 7 will compete with premium electric SUVs in India, primarily the Volvo C40 Recharge. At a similar price point, it also takes on the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, making it an interesting new entry in the luxury EV space.
With its powerful performance, feature-loaded interior, and competitive pricing, the BYD Sealion 7 is set to make a mark in India’s premium electric SUV segment. The combination of cutting-edge technology, ADAS features, and long-range capabilities makes it an attractive option for luxury EV buyers. Deliveries begin on March 7, so expect to see this high-tech electric SUV on Indian roads soon!
