BYD eMax 7 MPV Launched at ₹26.9 Lakh
BYD India has officially launched the eMax 7 MPV, with prices starting at ₹26.9 lakh for the entry-level Premium trim and going up to ₹29.9 lakh for the top-spec Superior trim. This 3-row electric MPV is aimed directly at competing with the Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid, priced between ₹25.97 lakh and ₹30.98 lakh in the Indian market. Deliveries for the eMax 7 are expected to commence in the coming weeks.
The eMax 7 is essentially a revamped version of the e6 electric MPV, which has been on the market since 2021. This updated iteration features a subtle exterior facelift, powertrain enhancements, and a comprehensive list of modern features. The eMax 7 effectively replaces the e6 in BYD India’s lineup and is available in two trims—Premium and Superior—offering both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts. Bookings opened on September 20, with a token amount of ₹51,000.
On the outside, the eMax 7 features mild updates, including reworked headlamps and tail-lamps, and completely redesigned bumpers with chrome accents. The vehicle is equipped with new 17-inch alloys wrapped in 225/55 R17 tires and is available in four color options: Quartz Blue, Harbour Grey, Crystal White, and Cosmos Black.
Inside, the most significant update is the larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, an upgrade from the 10.1-inch display found in the e6. The cabin features soft-touch materials throughout, including updated dashboard panels and a revised center console with two wireless charging pads and a new drive selector lever. A new steering wheel complements the interior, which retains analog dials with a 5-inch LCD MID for the instrument cluster. The top-spec Superior variant includes Level 2 ADAS technology, a fixed panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, frameless front wipers, and roof rails. Safety features include six airbags, front and rear disc brakes, and a 360-degree camera as standard across both trims.
Each variant of the eMax 7 comes with distinct battery options. The Premium trim is powered by a 55.4kWh battery, offering an NEDC range of 420km, while the Superior trim features a 71.8kWh battery with a range of 530km. The Premium variant delivers 163hp with a claimed 0-100 kph time of 10.1 seconds, while the Superior boasts 204hp with a quicker 0-100 kph time of 8.6 seconds. Both variants produce 310Nm of torque, a significant upgrade from the 95hp and 180Nm outputs of the outgoing e6 MPV. The top speed is claimed to be 180 kph for both models.
Both trims come standard with a 7kW AC charger, with the Premium's battery supporting 89kW DC fast charging and the Superior's pack rated at 115kW. As with the rest of BYD's offerings, the eMax 7 is also capable of vehicle-to-load charging.
BYD backs the eMax 7 with an 8-year/1.6 lakh km standard battery warranty and an 8-year/1.5 lakh km warranty for the motors.
