Audi Unveils 2025 Q5 SUV: A Tech-Savvy Rival to BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC

This month, Audi unveiled yet another new model, the all-new 2025 Q5 SUV, and is set to redefine the luxury SUV market. One of the biggest-selling Audi models across the world including in India, the Q5 has been Audi’s bread and butter model that is now due for a much-needed update to take on competition like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. This new generation focuses on the latest technology, better comfort, and different look which makes it a worthy contender for the line of luxury SUVs.

The 2025 Audi Q5 is the first SUV built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), a new platform designed to accommodate high-volume models across different segments. This platform supports the latest in combustion engine technology and incorporates Audi’s latest MHEV hybrid technology, giving the Q5 a competitive edge in efficiency and performance.

One of the new Q5's standout features is its larger inside and out dimensions. The increased size provides more room for passengers and cargo, and Audi has introduced an adjustable rear seat that can be moved lengthways or tilted, allowing for either more legroom or additional cargo space. When the rear seats are folded down, the boot capacity expands to a maximum of 1,473 litres, depending on the model variant, making it a highly practical option for families and adventurers alike.

Tech enthusiasts will appreciate the new Q5’s dashboard, which features three digital screens, including a dedicated display for the front passenger. This advanced setup enhances the overall driving experience by providing easy access to key information and entertainment options. Audi’s MHEV Plus system, which operates on a 48V electrical system, adds to the vehicle’s tech-savvy appeal. This system not only supports the combustion engine but also enables features like electric manoeuvring and parking, as well as an electrically driven air conditioning compressor that continues to operate even when the engine is switched off.

Under the hood, the Q5 will be available in Europe with three engine versions, offering power outputs ranging from 205bhp to 363bhp. The 48V hybrid system adds extra torque, improving both performance and fuel efficiency. The new Q5 is set to hit European markets in early 2025, and a launch in India is expected to follow, where it will go head-to-head with the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
