Annual FASTag Pass of Rs. 3000 to be introduced on August 15

In a move that is to revolutionise the mechanisms by which regular commuters use Indian roads, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed to implement a FASTag annual pass effective August 15, 2025.

At a one-time and flat fee of 3000 rupees, the vehicle owners will be free to access 200 toll-free trips all around the country to the toll plaza. Through this initiative, major savings and easy accessibility are likely to be incurred, especially among regular, distant drivers.

What is the FASTag Annual pass?

The newly implemented plan offers exempted toll trips with an annual limitation in terms of the number of trips.

The annual pass will either allow 200 toll-free transactions or a journey for one year, whichever is earlier. Under the 3000 pass, the customer can enjoy skipping extra toll payments on all toll plazas as well as the national expressway operated by NHAI.

In essence, it provides users with freedom of movement without the need to recharge parking sticker wallets or having to be concerned with low balances.

KYC- Recharge Requirement

In order to enjoy this advantage, KYC (Know Your Customer) is compulsory. Only those users who have updated records and verified FASTag accounts will be able to purchase and recharge the yearly pass.

Actually, NHAI has made it clear that there would be no issuance of FASTag pass without KYC after August 15. Therefore, in case you want to opt-in, you should do it long before your KYC is done.

Who Benefits the Most?

This is the scheme that can greatly benefit people commuting, transporting freight, and who use the highway on a daily basis because they have to pass several toll stations. Though it can be used intercity in a work environment, running a fleet of vehicles, or visiting your hometown very often, this pass can save you enormous amounts of money in the course of the year.

Conclusion

It is difficult to cover the costs of travel nowadays with the increase in the cost of fuel and the increased number of tolls to pay. The FASTag 3000 yearly pass is a welcome change. However, make sure not to waste this opportunity just because you may not get the time to activate your FASTag account KYC-compliant by August 15.
