2026 Mahindra Bolero Seen Testing with Fresh Design
Mahindra plans to bring back its trusted Bolero in 2026 with a fresh look and strategy. Test mules have been spotted around Mahindra City in Chennai. The images that surfaced on the internet give a glimpse of the Bolero's side view, showing a simpler and more polished design. This hints at its goal to fit within the sub-4m SUV category.
The new Bolero aims to use B-segment tax advantages to offer a balance of affordability, modern style, and added comfort.
Unlike the Bolero Neo, the upcoming new-generation Bolero embraces a more refined, upright silhouette, drawing heavy inspiration from the Land Rover Defender 110. The flat roofline, straight window line, and aligned rear windshield lend it a distinctive, boxy charm that merges rugged appeal with urban sophistication.
The squared-off wheel arches, almost vertical door shut lines, and flush door handles—possibly pop-out types like the XUV700—add a modern touch, while the large alloy wheels (likely 17- or 18-inch) emphasize its muscular road presence. This marks a departure from the utilitarian design of past Boleros.
The spy images also confirm some striking front design details. For the first time, the Bolero is expected to get round headlights paired with a horizontal grille featuring vertical slats and the bold Twin Peaks Mahindra logo. This front fascia reinforces the SUV’s butch, no-nonsense personality.
The new Bolero could be underpinned by a monocoque platform, suggesting a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout for better ride comfort. Spy photos and reports indicate the possibility of independent suspension on all four wheels, enhancing both ride quality and handling.
Under the hood, Mahindra will use the trusted 1.5L mHawk100 diesel engine, which produces 100 bhp and 260 Nm. Buyers can pick between a manual transmission and an automatic one.
The refreshed look and better handling make the 2026 Mahindra Bolero stand out. It looks set to go beyond just being a reliable ride for rural areas. It might soon hold the title of India's toughest yet trendiest sub-4m SUV built to tackle both urban streets and rough terrain.
